This reminds me of cooking as I was growing up. There were 10 kids in my family so every day was a big cooking day. We raised our own chickens, pigs and beef. Milked cows, made butter and always had a huge garden and canned a lot. We had 2 large freezers. One for all the meat and the other for freezer meals. Always made bread and biscuits every other day. Big Mamma cooking is the best.

As an American, that word is one of the few I always have to think about before saying. A few years ago I learned that the way we pronounce it is all wrong anyway, but I can never seem to recall the correct pronunciation, LOL!

Like my Mom used to tell us, My Grandma used to say, "All hands on deck *** East Pine Street" (Ironwood). She only held me. 🙂 Don't forget to make a kids table! That was Thanksgiving at Dad's side (Uncle's). We sat with our cousins at the kids table. I was much younger. It's all good we wanted to go play, and get in trouble anyway. 😇

When I make the Pumpkin Crunch Cake I top mine with a Spice Cake Instead of using the yellow mix. The spices in the spice cake go so well with the pumpkin pie spice to give it so much added flavor. I like to add chopped pecans to ours too but I add then half way thru the cooking time. Sometimes they get too brown and it makes them bitter tasting. For that reason I just wait awhile to add them to the top.

That pumpkin dump cake would be great with a spice cake mix! We had hamburg gravy so often as a child that I just can't stomach it anymore! Loved it as a kid but not now! We all have one childhood dish we just can't hardly tolerate and this is mine! My husband's is chicken pot pie! You better make sure where you are going in the truck that they have diesel fuel! They are now saying there is no diesel in the Knocksville area at all!

The mess made is the same rather you make a single serving or ten servings, so you may as well make loads while you’re cooking and have freezer meals for days you don’t feel like being in the kitchen. Also, I’ve always been of the opinion food made in large portions just tastes better for some reason, but that’s probably due to doing cooking for crowds of over 100 with my mom since that food always turned out great. The other times I feel food tastes better is when it is made by someone else and when it is prepared and eaten outdoors-did a lot of camping growing up and that was some of the best food I’ve ever eaten

I love your videos so much you are so sweet and calming. One thing though I have watched many of your videos and I really wish you could plate and taste test your food. Tell us what this gravy tastes like I have never heard of hamburger gravy but it sounds like something I would make. At the beginning of your video you said you would cut your cake so we could see out if turns out but I think you forgot. I would have loved to see how that cake turned out. Just like your bread making bread intimidates me I know it sounds crazy I'm just not good at it. But watching your videos makes be want to try again. When you take your bread out of the oven I would really like to see how it turns out (crumb) This is in no way criticizing you. I adore you. Just as a viewer these are things I look for when watching cooking videos.

We speak the same language but goodness there is a big difference! Minced beef (ground beef) cooked in a gravy sauce is called mince in the U.K. Is there a difference between what you call ground beef and hamburger mix? Is it seasoned? I’ve never seen milk added to beef in that way, always be gravy / stock over here with Worcestershire ( pronounced war-ster) sauce and the optional oxo cubes!

There are different fat to meat ratios in our ground beef/hamburger meat, but it’s all the same animal essentially. Being American, I stopped attempting to pronounce Worcestershire long ago and went with the “wer-ster” pronunciation after watching UK cooking shows and sitcoms. You speak English, we have adapted/slaughtered English into what can only be called “American” since even within our borders it’s spoken differently dependent on where you are.

I do have a cornmeal breading recipe. I have never dehydrated my green tomatoes to save for frying. What I do is prepare them and par fry them then freeze them. Almost like restaurant stuff. that way you can take them out of the freezer and finish frying them and they turn out delicious. We love fried green tomatoes.
