What annoyed me about Freddie's death was that there was no reaction to it. When Chris died we got to see each character react and morn, that series finale was tied up nicely, but here there are too many questions and we're just left to guess how the death affects the characters

True; I wish I had seen a bit more of the aftereffects. As far as anyone else knew, Freddie ran away and that was the end of it. Karen's intuition was on point (and dude was watching him piss) and that was why Cook went searching. After he [presumably] kills Foster, he went on the run for at least a few years until we see him again in Rise. It was suggested that he never saw the gang again after that interaction, just as well because he was a wanted criminal anyway. So the situation was very largely hushed because the only one who knew Freddie was legit dead had skipped town.

Thing is it never did, in Fire, Effy assumed he ran away and never came back. So I don't think any of them ever found out except for Cook. He might have told Freddie's sister but who knows.

Same. I always thought effy didn't deserve either of them and should've stayed away. She ruined their bromance for so long, and yet they still loved each other so much. I was watching the newest season with the episodes Fire and Pure they literally romanticized stalking and talking pictures of Cassie because she was “beautiful” and she was dumb enough to fall for the stalker doin it. Couldn’t even finish part 2 of pure

I actually liked the ending, the sudden brutal death of Freddie, the coming together of everyone. But most importantly Cooks final transformation! Cook throughout the series was a bastard, he would always fight anyone without any reason. But in this final moment he is fighting for someone. He is fighting for Freddie. Instead of Freddie saving Cook, cook is saving the memory of Freddie by fighting his murderer.

It's weird how this scene is both the most satisfying Cook moment, while also being incredibly depressing. It's really satisfying to see Cook get revenge for Freddie by killing his killer Foster. But I think the saddest part is the reality of the situation. Freddie's still gone...he's still dead...just a memory now...a voice in his head. And Effy will never know what happened to Freddie, and Cook will never tell her. I liked Freddie from the beginning, he seemed like a normal teenager that you could understand without that much explanation (Plus he's WAY cute!). While it was through the rollercoaster that was series 4, I'd grown to love Cook. You see the deeper more intricate emotions...the layers...and you really understand where his anger stems from. He's rough around the edges but I'll always love the love he had for Freddie (and JJ), he's really the only one who could get this much-needed revenge for Freddie. Just sadly, it's too late for Freddie. He's already gone...

I feel like the writers got so lazy when it came to gen 2. chris' death was SO emotional and you got to see every characters reaction but with this it was like 'okay hes dead....so what?' (except this scene). When effy tried to kill herself I feel like they could've made that scene so much more emotional. maybe that's more on the acting but still. I MUCH prefer gen 1. they just seemed a lot closer and I got much more attached to them then I did any other season.

Freddie's death was so fucking stupid. Why did they kill the best friend and boyfriend the show ever had? And seriously, a sociopathic counselor who uses psycho manipulation? Not to mention that the way he killed Freddie was shit (Freddie didn't even defend himself & btw this is Skins and not CSI) and that the characters didn't even get to say goodbye or at least grieve because they didn't even know he'd been killed. And even worse: in season 7, Effy didn't even mention the one and only love of her life ONCE. Killing Freddie was just unnecessary. They could have killed Katie instead. Nobody would have missed her.

Freddie's death was sad but necessary because it had an overall message. That if you spend your life without ambitions and simply trying to take care of everyone around you, you'll eventually pay the price. Freddie was the only character without layers unlike cook, it made him quite uninteresting. His death is even foreshadowed from the beginning of gen 2, Naomi says to freddie: "you remind me of ophelia... He ends up so boring someone has to kill him". So overall I think although the way he died was illogical, he was the right one to kill off.

  • @LilaMudbanana

Shehzadi Aziz 1: no, it wasn't necessary. People who always try to help other people shouldn't die and it's not a message that you die when you try to help either. 2: no, it wasn't foreshadowed when Naomi said that. She said that about him and Effy when she was touching his hand and he was too shy to say something to her. 3: no, he wasn't the right one to kill off. 4: no, he wasn't uninteresting, he was awesome.
