We're back! We thought we should address an omission in the list of required tools to get into casting. Namely, a pot! We thought it was obvious at first, but realized after editing the video that it might not be to some. Other essential tools are heat resistant gloves, as well as a metal spoon and can for removing impurities. A block of wood can be used to tap open a filled mold without damaging it. If you plan to load your own powder charges, or use heavier projectiles, a ballistic scale and chronograph are required. Guesswork is not an option.

Cool! I've been breaking down shells for componets too, mainly I just can't find any shotshell primers anywhere, and with the extra dangerous item shipping costs involved with ordering them from anywhere that does have them, its been alot more affordable to get champion target shells, and pop out their primers which I think are a Cheddite primer with the blue lacqour on them. I like the wads they use too cutting them flush and combining with slugs seems to work pretty good

It has become difficult to get reloading supplies. It's getting hard to find target loads too. We checked in one of the local stores today. They only had Winchester X-tra Lights. Not many either.

This guy could do voice acting. I could see him narrating a tutorial for a first person shooter game in a witty kind of way. Similar to how Bruce Campell narrated the 2002 Spider-man game om the PS2

He sounds like a particular character from a 90s-2k sitcom but can't remeber the guys name or the show bit I remeber the voice.

The holes from the Lee slugs look like they were made from Brenneke slugs. Brenneke slugs are rifled the Lee slugs are not and would have made a clean hole.

Great video, in my part of the prairies slugs are 10-20 per 5 nowadays, so 2-4$ a shot, but target loads have held pretty firm around that 13-14$ per 25, so still round 0.50-0.60$ a shot, if you slug hunt a lot it’s definitely worth getting a round ball mould and converting them. I’ve seen other videos about that lee mould giving people issues, and the accuracy isn’t any better for them than it was for you. Round balls are plenty accurate for big game hunting under 75 yards, even in wide open spaces I’ve killed plenty of deer under 100, lots under 50

I use cream of wheat here and there on my muzzleloaders maybe it would help instead of the foam balls

Nice! I have been doing this for years also. I just started doing the buckshot stuff so I dont have much info on that side. I started with Lee slugs also. I found that they were not very accurate and the mold does not last very long. I have been using the Russian Svarog Diabolo slug molds. They are great! Way more accurate than Lee. Hundreds of casts latet and still strong.

I've had little luck with the lee 7/8oz in my target load conversions. I tried replacing the factory gas seal/pressure column in the federal hulls with a cork substitute, and accuracy only got worse. I've tried multiple combinations, with cork, with factory, with nitro cards, without, in both federal and winchester target loads. My best group was with the winchesters with just trimmed petals and a single nitro card under the slug. Still lots of flyers though. 690 round ball was going to be my next venture. If we had the same selection and accessibility to hulls, wads etc that they have in the states, I'd just load some of those russian slugs from the ground up and call it done.

Russian slugs are Лучший. We've had some good results with BPI's Thug Slugs. They lose velocity quickly due to their shape, but within 75 yards, they slap!
