Converting Between Fractions, Decimals, and Percentages
Alright, so we've mastered fractions, decimals, and percentages, so let's quickly learn how to convert between them. This is important if you want to do calculations where you apply some percentage to a value, or a million other every day scenarios. Don't worry, it's easy!

I think I figured it out. I hope this helps. 35% = 7/20 is just 35÷5/100÷5, because if you multiply 7 and 20 by 5 then they become 35 and 100. 0.64 = 16/25 because 64÷4/100÷4 are 16 and 25. Same thing as above. This means that if you answered 35/100 and 64/100 (like me) then you're technically correct, it's just that your answer is rounded up to 100.

Good explaining
3:51 why do u multiply both by 2? What abt for 11/16 or 5/8 or others?
@jacob4245
Жыл бұрын
When you multiply both the numerator and denominator of a fraction by another whole number, the resulting fraction is equivalent to the fraction you started off with. For example, imagine a pizza cut into 4 slices, and imagine that only 1 slice of 4 has mushrooms on it. That is, 1/4 slices has mushroom. Then, imagine cutting every slice into 2 slices. Now, the whole pizza has 8 slices, so we have multiplied the total number of slices of pizza by 2, and the slice with mushrooms has also been cut into two slices, so the number of slices with mushrooms has been multiplied by 2. Now, we have 2/8 slices with mushroom on. But, since we have not added or taken away any mushroom from the pizza, these fractions, 1/4 and 2/8, must be equivalent. This is because both the numerator and denominator have been multiplied by 2. In Dave's example, he multiplies the numerator and denominator of 21/50 by 2 because he wants an equivalent fraction whose denominator is 100, so that he can compare its size to the fraction 45/100. In the cases of 11/16 and 5/8, there is no reason to multiply the numerator and denominator by any other number. I hope this helps!
professed Dave is better than any math teacher I've had in my life 🙏
Awesome, thanks for this simple yet effective break down!
Thank you understand well
At 2:46 where did we get 3/5 and 1/5 from? Could someone explain please?
@jacob4245
Жыл бұрын
3/5 is simple an example Dave is using to demonstrate converting fractions to percentages. 1/5 is used because you can get the answer for 3/5 as a percentage by adding the value for 1/5 as a percentage 3 times (because 1/5 + 1/5 + 1/5 = 3/5). Neither of these numbers are related to the example in the table of 3/10. I hope this helps!
Thank's,explain more better than my teacher's and this really helped me alot again thank you very much
