I liked both, but felt as though it was more well done in the novel, since we're more privy to Frances' inner thoughts. In the show, it's more slow moving.

also one difference is that in the book, the first time the girls went to melissa's house wasn't after a swim on a random day, it was the same night they met her at the bar
Even though Tommy Tiernan only played a supporting role, I was thoroughly impressed with how well he was able to play an erratic character. A far cry from his stand up routines and the more stable Gerry from "Derry Girls."
Unpopular opinion i find CWF better than normal people
In my opinion, Bobbi and Melissa were more compelling characters compared to Frances and Nick, and they both satisfactorily call Frances out on her dodgy decisions. I wish that Sasha and Jemima had more screen time, they played their parts to perfection.
I can’t wait to read the book and watch the series
I didn’t read the book but was looking forward to this show since Normal People was one of my favorite shows of the past few years. But I found CWF so tedious and sort of a pale imitation of NP. The dynamic between Bobbie and Francis seemed so toxic. It was exhausting how many times they got into a fight.

I highly encourage reading the book. I haven’t watched cwf yet, but i assume the dynamics between 4 characters can never be displayed as well as between 2 (NP). I’m interested in knowing how involved sally rooney was in cwf compared to np.
Definitely going to watch the show
i haven't read the book..... but i don't know... i liked frances but she became more and more intolerable! she NEVER talks. it's like she can't ever SPEAK. it's so annoying. am i supposed to know why she is so repressed? it's so annoying.... and bobbi always just comes back to her no matter how stupid and cruel she becomes.
Second one
1st one?
The game with the names they have to guess wasn't shown on the series
This show didn’t have that strong chemistry and authentic relationship because I felt that more in the other show Normal People
Book 🎉
Everyone were miserable. I don't know why modern creators trying hard to normalize infidelity. Just divorce and start new relationship. Love is possessive, hurting. It will rarely work with multiple partners. Trying to mainstream it will only create problems that will hurt a lot of people

Agree. We're constantly told to read/watch without judging or moralising. I hope some of the circles that Sally Rooney is around are not as screwed up as this but I suspect this is where she gets her material from, reality being stranger than fiction. However it is excellent writing and the TV is better than the critics' reviews imo. So if CWF is written as a warning to Gen Z'ers on how not to do relationships then fair enough but if, as you put it it's about 'mainstreaming' this kind of behaviour or normalising infidelity then she's adding her little bit of petrol to the inferno.

@@begachka I believe the writer favors it. Writers point of view is conveyed through Bobby when she goes ballistics against monogamy and morality. And even the end favors it as Frances once again took a call without informing bobby. I wonder what if others do the same to these people. What if Nick starts another relationship or Frances starts one? Will they be okay?

I think you missed the entire point of the book and pretty much what sally rooney tries to say in her writting. Also, incredibely arrogant to assume your understanding of love is better than what other's may view it as.
i didn't read the book, i watched the show but didn't liked it, its boring i hate the conversation between the characters the last ep. was very confused, Frances loves Nick but sleep with Bobbi even last scene was i don't know not strong

def read the book. it is much clearly in the novel compared to the show
I think the book is better. This is a story of codependency, alcoholism, and modern communication. Some of that is lost in the show. :/ Also, why race swap Bobbi and change her backstory? Once again proving that the world revolves around the U.S. and their problems instead of the unique cultural dynamics and struggles of another country.
Thrid one
