I haven't been the same ever since I heard this song for the first time. Moreover, I just walked in from a bad fucking night, cranked this, and instantly felt like my life mattered again; all those moments of self-pity and failure seemed to melt away, like tears in rain.

Wow. Been looking for this. This was one of the first shows I saw in the US. I met Ben up the road from 38 at a party in Boston I think and he gave me a ride. Coming from Melbourne Australia id never seen a Hardcore show as big as this. Maybe 300-400 people at most. And that would be for an international band. All our cities are so far apart it was a lot harder for bands to tour here. I pestered my family to buy me an airline ticket for my 21st birthday, which they did. I saved for a while and lied profusely about where I was gonna stay and all the rest. I rightly assumed that the kids over there would look after me, the same way we looked after them here. And that they did and then some. I was somewhere stage right looking out to the crowd from behind the band. I remember being a bit terrified at the start of this set and before I knew it, then it was over and I was wishing it would start all over again. I'm 45 now and this would still be in my top 5 sets of all time. I made some lifelong friends, that I still speak to today, learned very qucikly that that the 'Yankees Suck' and remain a Red Sox fan to this day. I was welcomed back each and every time I came, and was pleased to send at least a few Red Sox fans back to Boston from Melbourne as Carlton fans. Thank you to the various inhabitants of 38 Calumet over the years, who kept me (relatively 😂) safe, and always had me back. Even after the thing with the skunk. You know who you are. And thanks to the OP for this walk down memory lane. ❤🇦🇺

Music: controlled movement of sound in time. Free-jazz, while largely improvised as far as the structure and rhythm are concerned, still contains controlled movement of the sound within time. The notes are placed deliberately where ever it is that they end up. Ergo, free-jazz is still music. The same thing applies with noise rock.

Not so simple as that! Notes WILL make sense within' a certain melody, following the Key Tone, otherwise you have rhythm/tempo and, what we, Jazz musicians call: 'Lost music notes', definately NOT MUSIC! This, however, does NOT mean we don't agree at all!... Regards
