There is a lot of human trafficking by criminal organizations as well as sex trafficking but nothing that is “state sponsored” or anything legal. So why even bring this up in this discussions? Slavery has been illegal in the US for over 160 years. That’s 6 generations. Most American citizens’ ancestry had nothing to do with slavery that long ago. Even in the south. Most people’s family immigrated here between 1880s and 1910s. Most blacks have no roots in their family history back to the days of slavery. The level of mass immigration right before and after the 20th century change the country completely.

I always thought people wanting reparations was a joke. You mean there are actually people who believe they deserve it?? Look at today. Did you know that it is legal to pay disabled workers sub minimum wage and they aren't even incarcerated. In terms of housing "today," the physically disabled are subjegated to single story dwellings even though most condominiums are two stories. Not to mention all the other architectural disadvantages they face gaining access to basic programs and services. Definition of Reparations: the making of amends for a wrong one has done, by paying money to or otherwise helping those who have been wronged. Every country, county, state on this planet in every century has had needs of reparation to some degree. Paying blacks/brown/whatever in this country would be ludicrous on every level. Often times confirmation bias can lean us twd seeing things a certain way, like greed for example. For you to provide the definition then claim this country has been too crappy to too many people for us to right our wrongs is simply illogical. We have the means and the evidence to justify this particular situation. We don't close the justice system seasonally, it's a year-round process. I'd much rather live in a country willing to spend as much time as they did harming people to apply the same amount of effort repairing it's citizens, regardless of the group. Becoming a more efficient and prosperous country is a marathon not a race.

Freeing slaves meant taking their free healthcare, food, housing, clothing and forcing them to work for pennies under capitalism. Black people were left starving, homeless, and penniless working 12hrs a day, 6 days a week. If you fought to free slaves you owe black people reparations most of all.

That's definitely not how that works, Garriott. Perhaps GI Bill benefits provided to whites but not blacks returning from fighting in WW2 was the reparations you seek. They received guaranteed mortgages and further education opportunities. Those are the two most surefire ways to build wealth for yourself and future generations, land/house ownership and education. Both systematically denied to black veterans at the time. This is one example of what reparations is actually based upon. Policy based, racially motivated disenfranchisement. There are plenty of instances and a wealth of evidence for a legitimate case to be made. If you're against justice, please simply state that and we can move on.

Then instead of financial damage due to covid19 being the plague we're addressing imagine it was social injustice, policy based financial harm, slavery, and domestic terrorism that we were attempting to correct or provide stimulus for. All things we have clear evidence of. If you redistribute those same funds to foundation black americans alone, not immigrants or "black people" as a whole, then we can see what happens. Covid stimulus may have something to do with inflation but ultimately 2-3yrs later.. I don't see what the issue would be economically. I have no problem with you being against it at all and to answer one of your questions, I do not feel that anyone should suffer financially to support us. The US needs to make it right and it should not put a burden on my other fellow Americans either, that would definitely cause more division and hate/jealousy towards the black community. So let me ask this, because it hasn't been confirmed that reparations would cause others to pay extra taxes, these are all assumptions so far, but if it is proven that a reparations bill will not affect you financially, would you still be against it? Are you aware that reparations is based on more than slavery? And that we paid reparations to at least 2 other groups while previously enslaved people were still alive? The reality is that this country's political and justice system was infused with racism for a majority of it's history to this point. You may not be personally responsible but the country you live in is. If you believe in justice for all, you'll consider that justice is do for some that have been historically excluded from it. If you need an example, African American WW2 veterans were excluded from GI Bill guaranteed mortgages and further education opportunities in 1946. Previously enslaved people were still alive at this point in time. Mind you, we essentially strong armed Germany into paying reparations that same year. If it wasn't for us they wouldn't have received them. All while withholding the main ways of establishing generational wealth from black veterans and their families, via home ownership and higher learning. Another major instance of reparations in this country came in 1988 for Japanese Americans held in internment camps during those same years. The full circle example of why reparations deserves real consideration. It's not just about what we see today, it's about the injustice that has results still visible today and the gov't system still in place then and now.

But because God is just and loves justice, something had to be done… And thankfully the “Good News” is that he’s also righteous. So Instead of holding humanity guilty Jesus died on behalf of all humanity. And so the debt was paid. Now perhaps God may help many to embrace the opportunity for slavery reparations and forgiveness, respectively. More importantly I feel like when anyone is redeemed some forms of reparations for the injustices done to our ancestors; let us believers that trust in God share what we have as God leads us. Be a blessings to others In a way that pleases God. All who trust in God Let us share with -anybody. Let us love one another and go to bonfire worship services together to celebrate the king of kings. Many people know that It’s looking way too late in the evening time. In other words if you receive reparations act like you don’t even have it. And stay focused on God and eternity. And remember we are all created in the image of God and are family. It’s looking high time to ask God save ourselves individually from hell. So he can help us depart from the evil of this spiraling down because of sin and selfishness, that we ALL were trapped in; So much so that someone had to die on our behalf. So of course the devil wants the human family to struggle with divisions and reparations for slavery… And we know that by one man sin passed down so it is justifiable that by one man our sin can be forgiven. And so the price was paid for the wrong of our first mother and father after they were no longer alive, so we can be forgiven. So consider would it be Christ like to pay slavery reparations regardless if the people are dead or alive. If I sue a corporation that harms me and win in court, there is no legal basis for my grandchildren to then sue the corporation. Reparations needs to be paid out to all blacks at the same time on a federal level. Not a state by state level. This is beyond obvious. Those who get money first is really getting paid more do to inflation and them being able to invest in a cheaper market. Give every person/family they money at the same time so we can get this over with. They could even make payments if needed but really its no cap on how much money they could digitally print.

My mother was denied a state job 58 times in favor of another, less qualified individual based upon racial favoritism and affirmative action programs. She had to struggle for income and could never advance beyond temp status with no benefits. If you're going to argue for reparations, you'll need to factor in all of the extensive preferential treatment that has already been afforded blacks in education, employment, and housing for decades.
