Mashaa'Allah Brother Hijab gave no Gap.. I think Prof brown opinion is still wrong.. we can't support gay right to get married and should equivocally make our matter clear.. we don't support gays in any shape or form. End of discussion. Not talking a stand itself is a weaker position. Allah is with us. We don't need to be afraid or shy about it.

Hello Mr. Hijab! English is not my native tongue so bear that in mind please 🙏. I have been following you for quite sometime and I admire your work, even though I am not a religious person. I appreciate these podcasts you are doing and I find them very helpful. I do however have a question to you and the muslim community regarding the rise of depression and anxiety amongst the youth. What is your take on it and do your believe that the "rise of liberalism" has something to do with it? I am a social worker and I have seen an increase in depression and anxiety these last couple of year's and I believe it comes from the lack of religious/theological influence in people's life. I even think that the rise of more liberal "values" have caused people to question the meaning in life due to this things, because it does not give people absolute directions just like the Qur'an or a other sacred text would do. Just as the famous Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard said in his in his book, The concept of anxiety: " Anxiety is the dizziness of freedom." I know that you are a busy person and I understand that you might not be able to answer this question but it would be highly appreciated if you could ,since I work with immigrants from a Islamic background. If anyone else has anything to write, please do so since it would be highly appreciated. However if you are not able to answer this question, this topic might be relevant for a future podcast. Greeting from Sweden😁 Have a blessed day everyone.

Jasak Allahu Khair brother! In these times of refutation and hate it's very refreshing that there are actually brothers like you, who are trying to understand the other side and bringing the Ummah together InShaaAllah! Even if we don't always agree with each other, it's just beautiful when we can disagree in a 'beautiful' way. Sometimes it's better to actually ask the person, rather then refuting them directly. And maybe we can be guided by Allah, through each other. May Allah bless your work. Salaam from Germany 🌸

Exactly, I can't understand why this issue is approached so dismissively. It's caused so much damage to the deen of young Muslims in the west and yet the imams and scholars are mostly focused on combating white supremacy. Fact is young Muslims aren't apostatizing for white supremacy, they're doing so because Islam isn't 'feminist' or supports LGBT rights.

Prof. Brown seems to have a knack for controversy even the toilet claim was a bit out there. Why not just say make toilets like disabled toilets like hijab said that would be the end of it. Why say make toilets like those that transgenders want, surely even if the intention is clean that just adds controversy. I also do not agree with the statement of supporting gay marriages no matter how it is explained. Either don't have an opinion on the issue and remain silent or speak against it. I didn't really understand his explanation on that part. Other than that very good podcast, these podcasts are very productive and are a means for countering the fitnah that has been spreading around lately, as it gives everyone a chance to speak publicly.

Muslims who marry in a civil court still their marriage is fine as far as Islam is concerned. Then they just have to do a second contract if they decide to go to a Muslim society bc the civil marriage is recognized but they also want the Sharia marriage documents even if done 5 minutes after you arrive in the country. So if your own govt won't allow shariah marriage openly just do it quietly at home and do the civil marriage too. Or maybe the civil marriage alone is enuff according to the Sharia Allahu A'alam

dr brown said this lgbt+ thing is unprecedented in history(more or less, I'm paraphrasing), so as a muslim why can't I agree with the government's definition of marriage being between a man and a women. can someone who agrees with dr brown's position(which is we shouldn't let the government define marriage for us) on this issue chime in, I would love a discussion on this. if i've misunderstood or misinterpreted what he said, please let me know, may Allah have mercy on us and forgive us

Sorry but both Shadee elMasri and Jonathan Brown lost much credibility with their attacks on Shaykh Hamza Yusuf. Also they showed a big lack of knowledge in Fiqh when talking about that subject. Both their arguments were ill and they did not mention the strong prevalence of sunni opinion. Either they did this on purpose or they didn't know the overall Hukm about that. It is a shame how to adress such difficult subjects in public. As if we don't got enough problems with public acceptance etc. I think both should apoligize to the Shaykh.

I honestly enjoy this discussion, and I especially agree with Dr. jonathan about everything. However, I have a question, and I hope I can get it answered, in pre islamic era, it was ok for a slave owner to basically execute his slaves if he'd been undisciplined. there would not have been a problem or an accountability regarding to the slave owner in terms of the law, but in islam, was it ok to do so? considring that the slave is your property.
