Controlling the polar coordinates of an object 1

Point A of the pink object (a slider) is determined by the distance r from a fixed point
O and the angle φ from a fixed direction Ox.
The orange motor controls the distance r.
The violet motor controls the angle φ.
The pink slider has red pin that moves in an Archimedean groove of the green cam.
Blue line in the last scene of the video is the trajectory of point A.
Cons: orange motor is not grounded.

This could make a cool Sisyphus table mechanism

You might be able to use one motor for both degrees of freedom, I believe I have seen this in your videos before. Put an idler gear on a link that is always in mesh with the motor, but can be moved to mesh with either output. But, I don't know how you would drive each degree of freedom in reverse.

Impressive, but couldn't you coil the spiral tighter and eliminate that gap, thereby increasing the "resolution" in the r axis?

Is there any chance you could explore a "soft opening" mechanism? I can't figure out how it would be made.
