I was told to get geese, but I decided to keep the sand spurs (as we call them in Florida). Actually, this is interesting. We had horses but due to my wife getting ill, we got rid of them a few years back, and now we have 3 acres of them. As someone else mentioned, we did the "dig and pull an old blanket trick" when I was young, and it worked quite well, over time. Over lots and lots of time - lol. *_Great video._*

I put lime on my yard here in Florida and would walk around with a bucket and carefully pull them up by the roots.

what are you looking for with your soil test?

Can you link me the correct Image product for sandburr? I used one Image product but found no success with it... I did 4 floz/1 gal of water per the instructions. It did not do anything!!

Jeremy S, during bermudagrass pasture establishment, using certified seed or sprigs, which ensure strict limits on weeds, could prevent sandbur infestation. For subsequent years, it is recommended to inspect and clear equipment, animals and clothes that were previously in other pastures infested with sandbur. The spiny burs can easily attach to them and rapidly infest the next pasture. Hays can also contain and spread sandbur. Avoid introducing hay to your pasture that was produced in fields infested with sandbur. If purchasing hay, it is recommended that you inspect the hay and inquire about sandbur prior to purchase. For more information regarding hay inspection, see factsheet PSS-2588 Evaluating Hay Quality Based on Sight, Smell and Feel - Hay Judging. Chemical products for sandbur control are limited and do not differentiate between sandbur species. Currently only four products are labeled for sandbur suppression in Bermudagrass pasture. They are glyphosate (many formulations), Plateau, Pastora and pendimethalin. MSMA is no longer available for bermudagrass pasture

So I'm putting down Jamur Zoysia sod sometime this or next week. My neighbor has a shit ton of this sandbur growing in the shitty lawn? Whats the best way to keep it from spreading to my lawn. I dont want my new zoysia infected by this mans negligence. I've already seen it in my plant beds that border his property. The sandbur i have seen is full grown and green. The spurs havent begun to drop off yet. I was thinking of spraying what is there with roundup. What do you think?

As Dr. Martin says in the video, the best prevention for sandburs is a healthy lawn. If you have healthy zoysiagrass you should be safe from any spreading.

Yep. Tried a bag mower last year and it was worse this year. Hand pulled, drug a rake covered with batting material over the areas by hand to get the burrs. Next year, fertilizer and putting in bermuda grass. Also tried mowing grass short, did not work. Fertilized with 33 percent nitrogen and watered like crazy, then let native grass grow tall, still no good. Gotta get them gone and plant grass to choke them out.
