Controlling Highlights With Luminosity Masks

Tutorial showing methods for controlling image highlights with luminosity masks. This is a preview chapter from my upcoming course called Luminosity Mask Masterclass.
In addition to ideas for using luminosity masks in Photoshop to control highlight adjustments, this tutorial also demonstrates how I use the TK Go Panel to generate and apply luminosity masks.
For a limited time, until I decommission it, the original Complete Guide to Luminosity Masks is just $5:

    Hello Sean, the TK7 panel and your tutorials helped me to improve my nature photography and I am very grateful for that. This tutorial contained an extra bonus for me: the Nature Photographer Network. I was not aware of the existence of this community and I will definitely sign up. Take care.

    Hi Sean: Thanks for creating this video. Like you, it seems that we will be in-doors more over the next few months so it is perfect time to learn more post-processing skills. For me that is PS. I have purchased the TK7 panels and your accompanying training videos. Each time I see your tutorials the more comfort you bring me in my journey within PS. I am really excited to hear about your new series of training videos ! Keep Covid-19 safe, and keep creating. Cheers, Keith (Canada)

    When coupled with Tony's TK Panel, Sean's explanation and illustration of the creation and use of various luminosity masks is likely the best extant. I have previously purchased many of his courses and will of course add the newest course to the collection! Don't forget to update the TK Panel so that the GO panel is available as desired.

    Hi Sean. I'm trying to learn how to use in better way PS and TK7 panel and yr. fantastic tutorials are helping me very much. I've downloaded yr. videos "Sean's favorite PS techniques" and here I find some problems due my poor english knowledge. Why in yr. video tutorials is not possible to add subtitles as in the KZread videos? If this should be possible I believe that should be a big help for many persons that, as I, don't know English very well. Cheers from Italy

    @@SeanBagshaw Well that’s one way to do it. You can also ask for someone to intern with you. Where they shoot the video and learn from you and in exchange shoot the footage. Another one would be to vlog yourself. With the compact cameras these days, you have everything you need. Here’s an example from Heaton I really like and would love to see your voyages: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fYibpJKdmq-7m7w.html

    Thanks a lot Sean, always very interesting tips with the TK Panel ! By the way, what are the references of your mouse and keyboard ? I am searching for these but always find "gaming" stuff on the internet, which are not really good looking for a landscape photographer ! Thanks

    Sean, this is very helpful. A question: How would you also bring up the wispy waterfall in the image at time 3:10?

  • @SeanBagshaw

    @SeanBagshaw

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Dan. The waterfall is tonally different from the surrounding so a luminosity mask combined with the Mask the Mask technique should allow you to target an adjustment to it. Curves, Levels or Brightness/Contrast could all work.

    Sean- this is fantastic. Can’t wait for your November release. Question: would you be willing to share your workspace pref file so I can set my workspace up like yours? I suppose I could try to replicate it from watching this video, but I don’t know if I would get it right. I know it’s an individual preference, but this will sure help when following your masterclass tutorials.
