This controller is amazing, especially for the price. Iv been using the elite controllers since 2015 and i prefer this controller over any of those, great purchase.

FYI, stick drift arises from two distinct sources; Wearing out of the sensors the digitize the stick's positions, and loosening of the springs that return the sticks to the zero-zero position. Hall sensors can greatly prolong the time till the sensors degrade but don't have much effect on the wearing out of the stick springs.

I don’t believe springs are usually a major cause for concern, though. I know the PS5 controllers needed a redesign because their proprietary trigger system was putting so much pressure on those triggers. IGN has a great article on the causes of drift, here’s one good part: “If you crack open a DualShock, Xbox, or Switch Pro controller, you’ll find the same basic potentiometer design in all of them. The folks at iFixit have done some investigative work and tracked down the make and model of potentiometers found inside the PS5 controller and discovered they’re rated for 100,000, or 2 million ‘cycles’, depending on the exact model used. ‘Cycles’ is a little vague, but seems to mean one full motion of the stick along one axis. Rough math from iFixit suggests that could work out to be just a few hundred hours before the potentiometers start to wear out and you could potentially drift.” They mention debris getting into the potentiometers used on typical controllers being a main cause of drift. For this reason, hall effect sensors are ideal solutions: “There’s also other technologies they could use besides potentiometers: something like the Hall Effect can track stick position using magnetic field sensors without making physical contact, avoiding the wear and dust problems entirely.” The Real Science Behind Controller Drift

But even with a worn out spring If you manually hold the hall stick on neutral It Will not drift. While the potentiometer stick with drift Will drift on a neutral position, due to a shift in the centering of the stick, you can however buy those aftermarked stick calibrations, and you can basically end stick drift on a potentiometer stick, but you need to diaassemble the controller each time, and the spring is Just as likely to get loosen after a while

Okay. So i got this controller yesterday. I was only able to map the controller out the box to 1 paddle. Also. The controller doesnt update unless you update it on the gamesirapp on console- idk if it remains updated if you switch from pc to console. BUT i was able to input raw mode and hairtrigger via app on the console. Controller feels great for smaller hands, love the back paddles wishing for extra bumpers on the top like the Razer controllers and trigger locks. This controller. Hands down I recomend this holiday for the kiddos for it is cheap and intermittent level quality in design and inputs. So far. Ive gone through 2 elite 1s, 1 razer tournament edition(which these paddles feel the CLOSEST to, if you ever used that controller on xbox), 1 wolverine ultimate, 1 wolverine ultimate chroma. Going from the chroma to this. Funks w my muscle memory but in terms of quality its respectable. This controller is next level at a low busget and ive been competing and using paddles since 2018. Hands down one of my best buys so far competes with those others if you dont wanna break the bank. I just got it so idk how durable YET and or how warranty will work. But so far this controller competes with power-A market. I heard the first gamesir 7 might be slightly better in terms of quality. But i bought the SE version for it is the most recent. The faceplates are interchangable which is cool. Conteoller is light. Love the dpad for audio and the mute lights up. Membrane buttons are okay if youre normally used to them. But compared to mouse clicky razer. Its different. Thanks for the recommendation eli. Good buy 😇

Great vid. Yeee, always update firmware on a new peripheral! Thanks for the shoutout. Did you play around with the "raw" input profile? Read about that and I like the idea. I couldn't see the ms response variation in this vid, but I still think you should try capping the polling rate 250hz to minimize variation.

This is intriguing, I love my Battle Beavers but shelling out a couple hundred dollars on a new controller every year or so (better luck than I had with SCUFs, used SCUF for 3 years, went through 6 controllers (and I take hella good care of my controllers, so they weren’t dropped, they were kept clean, etc, just used a lot) then decided to give Battle Beaver a shot, have used those for 3 years now and am on my 3rd controller) but still, something you pay that much money for should still be built to last longer, but such as it goes with pretty much everything nowadays ha. Might have to give one a shot, can’t beat that price. Would just have to train myself to go back to only having 2 buttons, I’ve gotten really used to having 3 (jump, melee, and the 3rd is ping for Infinite, grenade switch for every other Halo, or call in a scorestreak in CoD.) Thanks for the heads up, had never heard of that controller before. Also, that gameplay was sick!

Best controller so far. And I've gone through 3 elites and power A's. Every single Elite Controller has drift within the first like 2 weeks. They're all terrible in terms of usability. They're all amazing controllers except for reliability and consistency The elite's would be perfect if they would just but HAL sensors in them. That gameplay was dirty.

You still using the g7 se? I got it and I don’t like it. I feel like when I put my reticle on someone the aim gets mushy after. Like all of a sudden it becomes hard to track. I had the gambit as well and I would drop like 40-50 kills in obj like ctf/ball/ etc. I’m wondering if you’ve noticed the same issues? I could get into mid-high onyx but on my g7 se I’m struggling getting into onyx.

Ya it feels more like a normal Xbox controller with raw mode on. When I do a test on gamepad tester with raw mode on I get the normal 10-11% error and with it off its 0.4% error. Really hoping we get the 1000hz OC update soon. Either way 45.00 for a controller that has buttons on the back and the buttery smooth feel the of the sticks makes it worth it. I might try the gambit for my next controller.

Yes this controller is one of the first xbox controllers to utilize hall effect joysticks. The majority of the other controllers with hall effect joysticks are mostly nintendo but this controller is xbox. There are 2 variants of the G7 controller. The G7 and G7 SE (SE uses hall effect, the other does not) are Xbox controllers.
