And then there is the album : Closer. It was there, his mind and the state that it was in. I understand, it was the 70's and mental illness was an foreign land that many would overlook ( and shun ) as Ian sang here.." Abandoned too soon". Ian was reaching out in this song, we see that now, sadly, they didnt then. In Peace, friend.
