    wow. I mentioned this on another video and I feel it bares repeating- I would be sooo thrilled if you made more skaven content. The other video was Seraphon, the reason I'm saying this is your approach to painting scales (& skin) is remarkable. I would love to see your approach fur (& skin) keeping in mind that just as beasts with scales come in all colors, so do beasts with fur. Most guides for painting skaven do similar things with the skin & fur but I feel like it can be embellished in all sorts of different ways. The more variety the better. Any number of color pallets you can think to put on a skaven I will certainly be trying. Thank you, and so glad I found your channel!

    It seems a bit incongruent telling people who can afford GW models they can get good results with inexpensive tools. It's true, but sometimes you also get what you pay for.

  • @MattsHobbyHour

    @MattsHobbyHour

    Ай бұрын

    In a lot of cases, yes you absolutely get what you pay for. Often times an inexpensive tool can perform just as well or better than an expensive tool. Other times the expensive tool gets results that completely justify the price. I'm a commission painter of over 20 years and there are a lot of cheap, handmade, and "trash" supplies I use regularly. There are a lot of expensive supplies that I use too. I try to strike a balance when I recommend something, especially to beginners, and I really value my reputation as well. I don't want to lead anyone astray. If there is a cheaper alternative that does the job nearly as good as an expensive option, I think it is worth talking about. There is a huge gear acquisition mindset these days and I see a lot of youtubers promoting sponsored products... I'm not selling anything and I'm not sponsored, I just want to help people paint a little bit better, and have a relaxing time along the way. Thanks for watching and happy painting!

    @@MattsHobbyHour I understand your motive and it’s a good one. One of my pet peeves is people who leave a negative comment because a content creator uses an airbrush in a video. Although you can do a lot more with one, even if all you used an airbrush for was priming it would quickly pay for itself when you consider that four or five rattle cans costs as much as a mid priced decent airbrush. Of course those people might prime with Rustoleum or the other cheap brand but even those add up over. No matter what tools people decide to use negativity like that is unnecessary. I look forward to more videos.

  • @MattsHobbyHour

    @MattsHobbyHour

    Ай бұрын

    @@dougpridgen9682 I completely agree with you. I use an airbrush myself, pretty regularly. You're right that it is a worthwhile investment which pays for itself pretty quickly. I haven't included it in any videos yet but I do plan on filming some airbrushing in the future. Right now this channel is more or less a hobby in my spare time, and things are a little limited. But one day I hope to have a wider variety of content.
