Good information. Had no idea there is a narrow drum available now. As a suggestion, a printable chart listing each drum with best uses out beside them would be nice to keep on the side of a toolbox.

I've been trying to compare with the Makita wire brush for woodworking. I want to raise the grain of the wood and clean it. I don't see much online. Has it tested in the woodworking industry with good results?

Can you PLEASE tell me what to start with to polish a 1968 airstream heavily oxidized! The 240 grit is not making a mirror finish like I have seen in videos.

The 240 will give you a brushed like appearance. What you are looking for is the buffing drums. Which pad will sand body filler straight with the panel is the red drum good the finishing one good for sanding body filler.

For perfectly level body filler, we'd recommend hand-sanding in a cross-hatch pattern with a DuraBlock. If you're looking to speed the process up, stick with a DA Sander. The DA will sand in a random pattern. That helps to take some of the human error out of the equation.

We can only support The Original Contour SCT - as for knock off's your mileage may vary.
Really seems like a good product. The consumables do seem pricey. How long do they last? How many abrasive wheels would it take to strip an average car?

A lot of variables affect the life of the drums, but for reference we've stripped an entire 1950s truck down to bare metal with two abrasive drums

The life of the drums will depend on the job your doing, if you are hitting edges they might wear down faster then if you were just doing flat panels. Man. I am using one to strip an old Bmw down to metal. I am no Hercules but it is heavy! Do one panel at a time and I’m done.

Formula Firebird that’s fine for horizontal panels like hoods, roofs, and trunks. It’s the side of the car, fenders and doors. Gets heavy.

Not for a C1 Corvette.. it’ll take off the fiberglass..
What is conditioning metal? That has no meaning and at low temperatures you can’t change anything about a metal.
So for the record WHY would this tool be better than a grinder corded or cordless with a stripping disc ? Secondly your sander MADE IN CHINA 🇨🇳 as per eastwood . Harbor Freight is American made as per them . I am in the Automotive/Diesel industry 45 years . I want a real good explanation , why I would buy all the attachments at 45.00 dollars plus the tool (150.00 dollars ) when a stripping disc cost me 10.00 dollars a intermediary pad another 10 .00 dollars and 220 sanding disc for a prime ready finish ?
