If you people thinks that Yokohama tyres are quieter due to its obvious softer compound, then you are wrong. Softer tyres does not mean it is quieter. The technology that goes into making the tyres as well as the grooving design plays apart too. The particular Continental tyre shown in the video here is no doubt a ComfortContact 6 or CC6. This tyre has proven in countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and generally countries with rough and horrible road conditions, the tyre performs very well with much quieter and much comfortable ride especially in highways/long journey drives. The Yokohama is also pretty good but the Continental edges out in overall performance and has longer thread wear compared to the Yokohama.

I just got 45,000 miles in 2.5 years on my Continentals that were 80,000 mile tires. Down to 3mm each tire, had to replace and did so with Michelins because Yoko doesn’t make the tire I want in my tire size anymore. My other car, I’m on my second pair of Yokohama 60,000 mile tires, first set got over 70,000 miles. I loved driving on my Yokos, hated driving on my Contis.

I bought continental cc6 after lots of research and now I drive nearly 250 kms every alternative day (and I drive on all sort of terrains)so they are wearing off pretty soon but they are fine, only a single puncture in a year. And there's actually a lot of variables and trade-offs when it comes to tires. No. Silica compound can increase traction whenever temperatures reach below. 40° f also you can add stiffness in the rubber on the cap and have a slightly softer sidewall or you can put a lot more of your structure in the sidewall and have a softer cap or you can just have stiff all around. How the structure is created as well along with how much air pressure is going to be in the tire makes a tire off a wheel unpressurized not really tell you a whole lot. It's a point of interest but it's hard to draw any conclusions. That's not even getting into how much force will actually be loaded onto the tire and had different parts of the tire can be made up of different compounds. Then when you think you figured it out, they'll come out with a new model and they'll start phasing out old model sizes so it'll be a grand waste of time. It's kind of like trying to learn about oil. A reformulation will happen and often will have the same exact UPC.
