    On the ditch pig rope, that 7,300 lbs is breaking strength. We have broken multiple of them because we bought them based on that number. You will easily put 4x to 5x the weight of your vehicle on that strap if you have to yank someone or them yank you. You definitely want a thicker version than that there, or at least double it around.

    So here is a question... How did you prepare for being street legal in all the states that you passed through? Did you research laws in each state? Did you get permits needed for each state? If you did research them, what all did you add to your UTV to make it meet the requirements in all these states? Did you have any issues with law enforcement along the way while on public roads? Did you pass by any peace officers while driving on public roads?

    I made my talon street legal in Montana, which is legal in all states. In 4 yrs, I received a ticket in New Mexico and Oregon, both times I plead not guilty and the tickets were dismissed. I carry a letter from the state of Montana stating it’s street legal in all 50 states.

    Awesome! Well put together and explained. Thank you for posting this video as it gave us a few ideas I'd not thought of. I have carried my leatherman religiously for well over 20 years now, much the same as you do with your benchmade perhaps. It's an essential edc that has saved me countless times. If I had a dollar for each time it got me out a pickle I'd probably be richer than Oprah lol!

    About your axles, do you think its possible that prior use in water or mud may have contributed to their failure? just curious as this would be a huge concern for me doing this trip. Also, how many miles did your Talon have on prior to making this trip? Great videos and Thanks

    My dad wants to follow along loosely on the Divide Trail on a side by side. It would be plated in Tennessee and trailered to Antelope Wells. We would end the trip in Steamboat Springs. Would this be possible/legal? He is getting up there in years and we would like to take him but we're unsure of the laws in Colorado and NM on Side by sides. Thanks!

    Russell Thanks for this great video series. I am curious if you have done anything with your Talon to mitigate the heat that pours into the passenger compartment coming off the radiator fan. The first time I took it out in hot weather it was like a sweat box inside. Heat was pouring in through all the console, floor and gearshift opening and through the back panel behind the seats. I was soaked from sweat after a few hour ride. Anything in the cup holder gets hot very quickly. The Talon forum has several conversions on the subject. I have done several things to minimize the effect (and posted them on the forum) but I wondered how you made this long trip in the warm weather areas. Having a full glass windshield and door panels, of course, make it worse.

    is the fuel mileage different with the turbo vs without? I do a lot of 200 miles day trips and mpg is vital. i can usually pull this off with a single tank of fuel. thoughts?

  • @gravesru

    @gravesru

    4 жыл бұрын

    chavy85 I find at high elevation with the turbo, the mpg are pretty close because the stock talon doesn’t properly adjust for elevation and it runs too rich. At lower elevations, the turbo uses a little more fuel, but it also depends on how you drive.
