As a child I use to watch Bishop Sheen on TV. I was amazed how adult Protestants I knew would tune in for what I would call today Spiritual Direction. When I was pregnant with my son his preaching/teaching on raising a child in the faith and grace by seven I will tell you the way he will go. I did and it is true. A life worth living is a life to unpack that truth. Today my son turned 48 years old and even through darkness it is true. Thank God for Budhop Sheen

Great show, gentlemen. It's amazing how well Sheen's TV shows hold up to this day (though it probably helps that the faith he's propagating is timeless).

Re: most people not knowing who Fulton Sheen is these days. The funny thing is that Sheen was the first Catholic preacher that I ever watched all the way back in 2018. Right here on youtube in black and white. God is God of the Algorithm too, I suppose. Sheen's arguments for the Catholic position were very convincing as far as I was concerned. He played a huge part in my conversion so I really do hope he gets beatified then canonized soon.

Today I asked regular churchgoers under 45 if they knew who Bishop Sheen is and they said "No who is he?" Your right.

Sheen's book, Treasury in Clay, is beautiful and inspired me to go to Adoration.

My Mother always watched him. As a child I found him intimidating.

Here in Germany, Nerd ropes are more or less not available. But the week this video aired, I found in the “1€ shop.” Perhaps American Dominicans stranded in Germany are praying for nerd ropes in every shop?

Bishop sheen eventually resigned as Bishop of Rochester and moved back to New York City. He was then named a titular Archbishop.

Watched Bishop Sheen as a child with my parents.. I wonder if opposition to the war created a major problem for Bishop Sheen yet I don't think his opposition was well known at the time... Most adult citizens supported the war. There were televised college protests. It was the high school graduate who went to Vietnam. The War is shown every night for years on Walter Cronkite news and the advent of the" talk" show with Catholic Phil Donahue. were a factor in the change in society..

Not relevant to the content of the podcast but the 2 pink lights above the shelves don't look as good as the older/no lights. In my opinion, eerie looking...

"The champagne never tasted so good." Yeah, that just about summed Sheen up, showboat that he was. Maybe a cast on real shepherds of the People of God? Helder Camara of Brazil, Óscar Romero of El Salvador, ...? Or is today's New York Times' article on your generation of priests just about spot on? I mean, that would be all a bit too much liberation theology for you?
