Contemporary Longrifle Association | 2023 Event Tour | Muzzleloading Art and Accoutrements

If you're unfamiliar with the contemporary Long Rifle Association or the CLA it is an organization, a nationwide organization set up to honor and carry on the traditions of contemporary long rifle culture. Each year, thousands of contemporary long rifle association members convene on to one location for a two-day show that encompasses really the best artisans and craftspeople of long rifle culture. At the show, you'll see everything from original muzzle loaders and original pieces, all kinds of accouterments, bags, horns and things all the way up to the namesake being the contemporary made long rifles and their accouterments.
The show hall is filled with artisans and craftspeople and historians. It's really kind of a one stop shop for anything that you love about muzzleloding culture.
If you want to learn about muzzleloader building, learn about bag making, leather working, knife making, tomahawk making, talk to the authors of books that have done firsthand research on all this stuff. It really has everything.
The CLA Show is the kind of event that you don't see everywhere. It's a really special event. This is my first time back in a few years now, especially with last year being canceled and I'm really happy to come to you today and report that from what I've heard from everybody that I talked to you there, the show went really well and they're really excited for next year's event.

My God! I got started late in this hobby wish I picked it up 10 years earlier! I have to get to a show; this one in particular! Thanks for presenting this! I knew there were a lot of artisans out there never realized so many. When does this show go off again? Beautiful!

Thank you sir for sharing this. One day I would like to go to see all the things first hand. Being from Wyoming I have been to the Green River and Ft. Bridger Rendezvous many time during the early 80’s through the late 90’s… but it started getting to “touristy” for me and I stopped attending. Being a gunsmith and gun builder myself, I would just like to see how the true artists of the trade build things. Thank you once more for another excellent video.

Great filming. Slow enough to be paused for a longer look. I will likely watch this video several times so I don't miss anything. The show was great also.

Ethan- your Momento Mori theme has drawn my attention and that shooting bag you had in your booth really struck a note with me. Did you make that one?

I'm new here to this site, but it's been a joy since. I've an inherited Frontier Hawken and I'm gathering the right tools for it. Can anybody, and I'm sorry for asking, but anybody steer me to a nice possible bag, leather preferred. Thank you in advance. And thank you for this historical tour. It's not often love of original firearm is shared so eloquently.

Hello Ethan. A question I have been wondering about is if there are now, more contemporary flintlock rifles in exitance, than actual antiques? I think I know the answer. I have been to this show before and it's long overdue that I visit it again.
