Tabitha’s style is goals! Simple yet elegant and put together.... trendy yet doesn’t scream “look at me”.... she should do a fashion line....she would be successful having a clothing brand.

I feel the same way as well. Sometimes I just want to get a scissors and start cutting? This is a woman who loves her job and she never works a day in her life.

I went to get my hair tried yesterday at a hair salon chain.... Not a full hair cut, just to trim off the dead ends. And for the first time ever I had a full consultation, like what Tabitha shows

When I have a new client in my chair and she can't exactly tell me what she wants, I just say, "Tell me what you DON"T want" that usually gets them more talkative!

My worse hair cuts came for high end salons. They were snotty, rushed, stopped receiving education...etc. my favorite hair cuts came from the $15-$25 walk in salons. Always good service, always exactly what I wanted if not better...cause they listened. My sister took my to a salon that charged $50 to get a consultation... and she spent about $130 on the cut and color and it was awful. Blotchy, choppy, no volume. It took a hair student to fix it for $10 bucks. Lol

Great suggestions Tabatha! Another great tip for increasing your prices, is to let your clients know that you've gotten a raise or a promotion, therefore your prices will be increasing to reflect that. Most clients will rejoice with you that your benefiting from a raise, so it's an effective way to increase your price point on services!

LOL! Now real world...I love to hear this and she’s not wrong (oppression is real) in fact, I’ve said it many times...however, applying this advice in an actual small town hair salon is truly an uphill battle. The 1st (regular for years) rich, retired business owner (multiple houses in different states) color client I had today that I raised the price on by $9 (yet getting a senior and cash discount of $15 off the regular $115 price) because the cost of business in New York State went up...wanted to know how could she get back to a lower price for her services?!? Prices go up at grocery stores, etc. BUT raise the price at a salon/spa and all hell breaks loose. 😂 #practicevstheory

While I was in school I worked the front desk at a salon and realized there are two kinds of hair dressers. One will ask "How would you like your hair?" And give them the haircut, even if it's bad and say things like "it's what they asked for". The other will ask questions and make suggestions on what they think would look best on the client and was usually much more successful.

maybe im incrorrect here, but i think she is slightly wrong at her comment at 2:09. I would imagine that its the second visit that makes a client determine if they will be a repeat/permanent customer. i can only speak for myself, but all stylists that care at all will go above and beyond the first time. Only great barbers or stylists will go above and beyond the second haircut which shows that they will do so every time you are in their chair.

I have a question that maybe someone can answer...what is expected tip wise, is it a certain percentage of the total cost or just a couple bucks...I usually give five bucks unless they were really awful...and yes, I've had that hairdresser who told me all her problems with her husband and it was a crazy story and it stressed me out...I think she thought she get a lot of sympathy and I'd tip her big...and it worked! I did feel bad for her but at the same time I felt manipulated and stressed out by all her drama.
