The DeWalt seems to have some nice improvements on the Viking Arm at a much better price. Also, I know it’s beating a dead horse, but I really miss the ToolNut showroom. I never walked out of that place without a few more extra doodads as well. The place was a true woodworker’s candy store. There is no replacing seeing and touching some of these expensive specialty tools before buying, not to mention always knowledgeable staff at the ready. And demos!!! I always buy store pickup now, just to have a little chat with whoever opens the door to hand me my boxes 😆

We also miss the showroom and hope to have one again in the next couple of years when we move to a larger facility. We truly appreciate our loyal customers. Thank you Chris!

I hate to say it, but it looks like Dewalt has topped Viking Arm. The foot operation would be really handy sometimes. Also, if you notice... the lifting surface is bent 90-deg, and held with horizontal screws into the lifting body. Viking Arm's lifting surfaces are screwed vertically up into the lifting body. The _sheering_ forces on the Dewalt screws will be MUCH stronger than pulling directly on the screw threads of the Viking Arm. All this _after I've invested_ in two Viking Arms + the cab install kit for both + created a custom van storage solution for all. Ahh well.

@@lylewaters6161 It's an extension which slips over the lifting body and let's you lift higher. And they're adjustable. I modified mine quite a bit. They fit so tightly they were very difficult to get on & off. I banged my fingers badly a couple of times removing them. I modded them so they're easy to install & remove... and I cut them down in height, so that one plain VA can lift something up to the height of one extension in the collapsed position. They work great now.

its strange that stanley black and decker who owns erwin and dewalt would make 2 diferent verions of this instead of just branding them diferent. i have 2 vicking arms. they are game changer tool. definetly one of top 10 of the last 10 years. so handy. i use mine all the time. yesterday i used it to hold an entire supended floor up while i put shims under it. all i had to work with was a hole 24 " long by 10 " wide. it lifted the floor and me up no problem . i will buy the dewalt version of this just for the way the handle is oreintated. using your foot to lift while standing would be so handy.

They're targeting different markets at different price points. They're manufacturing and selling the irwin for less
