In the workshop of Mr Abdelghani Nhari in Meknes, Morocco. All the triangular sections have been carved with the correct profile and now they need to be arranged to create a three dimensional composition.

awsome....i made a flat one of these ....inspired by the ambassadors room in the alhambra.....what a mess.....it looked better after i plastered it but....welll in islamic aret they leave a deliberate defect as only god is perfect......well mine was big.....now i can try again....mucho gracious.

The origin of the muqarnas can be traced back to the mid-tenth century in northeastern Iran and central North Africa, as well as the Mesopotamian region. according wikipedia.

هذه الطريقه لا تعطي جميع اشكال المقرنص ولا تكمل القباب والمحاريب وذالك بسبب الاختلاف بطريقة شكل الوحده الاساسيه
as far as I know, back in the time while building great mosques and palaces architects didn't stick pieces together but carved big rock stones instead.
