leica needs to put af on the camera as an option, in case you want to modernise like the x100 series. knowing how to zone focus is fun an all,yet 28mm feels weird. like i've missed some great shots, that are blurry instead of clear. guessing is a nightmare. i'm so used to af. every moment is personal, until it is blurry.

@@thedeadguy So many of Leica's cameras have autofocus. Check out the CL, TL, SL series for example. Properly done, zone focusing is much faster than autofocus. I set my lens to focus at 3 meters, and at f16 that gives me focus from 7 feet to infinity- and that's with a 50mm lens. Even down to f8 or f5.6 I just enter the approximate distance of my subjects and it works every time. With a 35mm or a 28mm it even easier because you get so much DoF. You also learn that not everything has to have perfect focus all of the time. Some blur, camera shake or subject movement are tools for expression. Take a look at the work of Cartier Bresson.

Never did I expect to see Juan Beniquez of the Red Sox in this video! 😂 Must have been from 1976 when he was commissioned to shoot Boston during the Bicentennial.

You're describing pre-Noctilux, Leica photography. You can't shoot the f/0.95 50mm Noctilux 'wide open' without the Leica EVF attached, and with the EVF attached it takes a few moments to focus the camera. On top of that, the 50mm and 75mm Noctilux lenses are big lenses. When you point a Noctilux lens at someone, they'll probably notice. Noctilux photography is not the same.

Even with his simple mind and one dimensional view on the world he took some great images. Of people of course, because that seems all he sees in the world.

beg to differ on the fact that animals can't produce a "magic moment", take Daido Moriyama's dog (his most famous picture), Masahisa Fukase or Sarah Moon's , or Penti Samalhatti's work, but I admit the human factor, society and interaction is also something we "read" more easily (as humans)

If you figure how long will you wait and hope they will lift the baby .. it's a 13 second thing .. point focus and shoot .. that's the magic and again it's like shooting in the dark . I have learned you have to be so quick .

HCB called it the decisive moment... the magic moment..

i must shoot everyday, i always think i should then fear grows inside. it's scary when people notice you taking the photo.

The more I watch a video like this, the more I realize nowadays everybody could be a KOL, everybody could open an instagram account and call themselves a photographer. The number of followers doesn't necessarily mean how good a photographer they are. The problem is, some of them making average or OK or crap photograph but the hundreds and thousands of likes and subscribes tricked them to think that they are really good at it, then they continue to make those craps without improvement. I have seen enough stereotype photographs around, stay in a spot where there's empty space with some good lighting, wait for 100 people to pass by then make 100 photographs, all people has no faces , no emotions but silhouettes. These pictures may have visual impact for 5 seconds, but viewers forget about it after that, because these pictures have NO SOUL in it. I'm not tired to put up the same comment for anyone of you who make those kind of stereotype photographs, please stop and improve yourself it's only you and those average people who doesn't know photography would enjoy. Your work is a joke for those real photographers with real eye and real style. It doesn't make you any cooler being imitator of Henri Cartier-Bresson, we only need one Bresson in the world, please build your own styles and let everyone know it's you when they look at your photographs.

I enyoy my Leica M, however what I always hated was the snobbish attitute of Leica shooters towards their gear. I know that therer are millions of crappy Leica photographers out there who did not by a tool but rather an attitude. Already the name "Leica Society" implies a weird fanboy attitude towards the holy cow Leica. The camera has nothing to do with the abilities of the man behind it.

Great photos. But he's an incredibly shallow thinker.

Yeah a Leica society video should instead promote Fuji, Nikon etc.. come on people it is a Leica channel why would he talk about other brands, nobody blames Nikon and Cannon sponsored videos for not mentioning other brands

Leica,Leica,Leica , sick of that camera , so is the only rangefinder on the market, right? Well you have plenty of other manufactures making rangefinder cameras , all very fine machines or better, so please stop manipulating people . !!

Pixie & Dixie What are the plenty of other manufacturers that make rangefinder cameras with comparable lenses as Leica? Especially the ones that are better than someone else own personal taste and satisfaction?

Louis White Well there are I just making my point . You don't need to spend 10.000 pound on a camera and lenses, Ricoh makes really nice compact cameras as well suited for street photography. You can use pin hole cameras as well , your iPhone with hipstermstic app allow you to use different lenses , apertures, shutter speeds ... so , less thinking on gear and more thinking on whah you want to say .
