FAQs: -you can find a full version of the outro track here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eXeEuJuQZZariqw.html -most of my old videos are unlisted because I'm uncomfortable with people watching and commenting on videos of me looking so different. My Snyder video is unlisted because over time I became unhappy with the finished product of the essay - I think it really got away from talking about how movies communicate ideology and focused too much on Snyder as a person, which was not the intention. -employment statistics aside, the CONTROL of banks in the Weimar Republic was never in the hands of anyone but the German state, and claim that "jews control the banks" is a nazi lie. -no, I am not a liberal, no I do not think all conspiracy theories are completely made up from whole cloth. watch the video -voices in the video were: (in order) John Duncan (kzread.info) as George Galloway; Shaun (kzread.info) as Jimmy Dore; Sam (kzread.info) as the authors of Creating Conspiracy Beliefs; FD Signifier (kzread.info) as Michael Barkun; Jess (kzread.info) as Hillary Clinton; Mildred (kzread.info) as Caleb Maupin; Henry (kzread.info) as Peter Coffin; and Lua (kzread.info/dron/GZrqXTq3GW2wNRz9M44Baw.html) as Grayzone. I believe they were titled, from 1 to 3, Time, Validation, and Control respectively? Since they’re no longer on KZread, could I find these someplace else?

As a fellow Jew, I couldn't agree more. I'm just sick of antisemitism being a part of every social circle I've had outside my own community. From the awful antisemitic attacks against my home as a child & almost every synagogue I've belonged to, kids in school bullying me as the only Jew in school in a very Xstian town, to my friends making "jokes", to all political circles, to every space online at the moment...it's just still everywhere in our world & as Jews we've been taught/expected to not bring attention to ourselves & never to respond.

Richard Doty claimed that he was charged by the US Airforce with “leaking” falsified documents to UFO researchers to cover up the covert development of aircraft for the US Military and CIA. By convincing UFO researchers that what they were seeing weren’t spy plane tests but alien landings they hoped to push these people into mental breakdowns and discredit their observations to the public. Essentially the US Military gaslit UFO cranks to discredit their observations because they were worried someone would eventually take a closer look and figure out what they were seeing weren’t alien space ships but military spy planes. If the whole world believes UFO Researchers are just insane most people will just assume they were hallucinating when they saw a spy plane go boom over Roswell.

And then after Philosophy Tube made that awesome coming out video, I stopped watching KZread until recently because I moved and changed jobs and couldn’t watch hour long KZread videos on the clock ☠️ So I was really blown away to come back to “breadtube” and I see Peter Coffin hanging out with Daniel Maupin defending Louie CK. I definitely agree with that emotional aspect of conspiracy theories. I'm a trans guy, however I've got a pretty bad case of OCD, though I've been improving lately. Occasionally when things get difficult to deal with and the compulsions aren't enough, I begin having seasons of overactive paranoia, which leads to conspiracy theories. After I'd come out as trans I was dealing with a lot of negative backlash and (legitimate) gaslighting from family members and others around me. Most of the people doing this were women, who refused to allow me an identity outside of my biology. so because I couldn't emotionally deal with it I started obsessing over this idea that women aren't actually real, and it's some fake bioengineering created by a pseudo patriarchy. I never told anyone about this, because I was aware this idea was delusional and it lead me to think in a very misogynistic way about the women around me, and I knew that was harmful. and it was unhealthy because while the idea was based on pre-existing oppression of trans people and women, I'd altered it so that it only benefitted me, and no one else.

Great video. The thing that most annoys me about Alex Jones is that he would sometimes latch onto something that was true- chemicals being dumped in the water affecting the behaviour of frogs and other aquatic species- and because he's an epic troll people would just write it off as "lol gay frogs sure dude whatevs". When if he'd actually taken the subject- and his audience- seriously he could have done an expose of how private funding of the EPA results in the power of that organisation being watered down so much that when a red flag is raised they'll take the word of the corporations over the whistleblower. If anyone is interested, look up Tyrone Hayes, he's the guy who first raised the alarm about the water contamination.

Thank you for talking about the war in Ukraine and how some on the left have responded to it by cheering on Putin. I'm a Ukrainian (albeit an expat living in Britain) and this war has been traumatic enough without seeing people cheering it on, people who should know better. People who support Russia's war and genocide of my people because "America is an imperialist power, and anybody who challenges its hegemony is good, actually". I've experienced this personally: my partner has a tankie ex-friend who openly wears the Z. Even at the start of your video, I had a visceral reaction to the word "communism", despite being generally on the left myself, just because I've heard that word thrown around so much by tankies to justify my country's invasion. So again, thank you for breaking it down and stating that you're against this, and showing why those people who are pro-Russia are horrible. It is absolutely delicious to hear Galloway talk about an invasion being justified by sketchy evidence of WMDs. He once came to my college to give a talk to students and (after being 45 minutes late and jumping straight into Q&A because he clearly hadn't planned anything) responded to every single question directed at him by accusing the person asking it of being an Iraq War apologist. We were all 16-18 and one girl just asked the very general question of "What do you do to serve your constituents" (he was still an MP at the time) and his aggressive response made her cry. He seemed to genuinely believe this one correct call of opposing the Iraq War gave him total immunity from any and all inquiry. It's nice to have my long-held suspicion confirmed that he only opposed it because he loves Saddam and he would have been all for it if it was an anti-western dictator invading a pro-western democracy.

Thank you for the timestamp. I had seen a few other comments about that. Looking at the office glass and the office carpeting, it's clear that Caleb is renting a studio in a building and the maid is part of the cleaning service for that building. I would tip the woman if I saw her, but he was recording and she was behind him. Could he be the kind of guy to walk past a cleaning lady without acknowledging her? Maybe. Probably, but I don't know for sure.

@1:12:00 As a Jewish person from Europe I think it is incredibly important to say that there WAS a disproportionate amount of Jewish representation in those who were economically successful, especially in the banking sector (See Windolf, 2011, published in the Geman Journal of Business History). In short, Jewish people made up some 14-16% of the banking sector from 1914-1928, but made up less than 1% of the German population. This would be described as "disproportionate". The point that people who are anti-semitic make is that this disproportionate representation somehow justifies enacting harm on Jewish people. Obviously, anyone who is not a bigot understands that this is NOT sensible. The same way that black people commit a disproportionate level of crime in the USA is NOT a good justification for discriminating based on skin colour. The point is, there are likely socio-economic factors at play that lead to the disproportionate representation in certain social roles. Understanding that these socio-economic factors existed and that they lead to disproportionate outcomes is important to understand how it is the grain of truth that underlies Nazi ideology (i.e., that Jewish people are over-represented in certain roles) is then twisted into horrible misinterpretations (that Jewish people are somehow conspiring against the German state by taking powerful positions). Racists in the USA use the same misstep in logic. There is a grain of truth (black people are over-represented in crime statistics), but they then make horrible misinterpretations (they believe that black people are naturally more "crimey" or whatever). It is so important not to pretend that the "grain of truth" part isn't denied, because that only gives credence to racists/anti-semites. It makes those they speak to able to think "Wow, I didn't realise that [gain of truth] was true... I guess [misinterpretion] might also be true!" As someone who doesn't want people to be bigoted, we mustn't let that happen. By claiming that what Vaush said was "categorically untrue", you open the door to bigots trying to 'red pill' people, or whatever it is they call it these days.

@@macmcskullface1004 But the point made was that they did have disproportionate presence in the sector. I specifically said that this nugget of truth is what is used by anti-semites to then make further statements (e.g., they claim that this disproportionate presence also implies disproportionate control, which is then further morphed into 'Jews control the banks') My point is that it is important to acknowledge the underlying fact (there was a disproportionate presence of Jewish people in the private banking sector) without then agreeing with the framing that this is because they had control. The same way that black people in the USA do, factually, commit a disproportionate amount of crime. The point I am getting at is that this should not mean we accept the framing that this is because black people are more "crimey" by nature. The vital thing is to acknowledge that what we see are *outcomes* of socioeconomic factors (e.g., Jewish people were pushed into the banking sector by Christian countries in the pre-1900 era due to limits on lending placed on Christians and Muslims, or black people were pushed into poverty by the USA and poverty is linked to crime)

Thank you. This stuff is infuriating. I thought our whole thing on the left was supposed to be to reject common but unfairly framed questions. Yet so many of us are dead set on getting into the weeds of every detail of fascist conspiracy theories. This isn't flat earth, or some other factual disagreement. We should be refocusing the conversation on the morality. Wasting our time debating unimportant facts only bolsters fascist positions by implying there's some answer to the debated question that could justify genocide.

Thank you for pointing this out. Like, there are Holocaust Remembrance sites that talk about this as a historical fact, but lefties ignore it because it doesn't fit their narrative of the Jewish people being victims lied about by Nazis. That did happen in many other ways, but you're right. Denying this will make it easier for right wing people to out-argue you and not take you seriously, even less than before. There is a clear bias against streamers and debaters, especially Vaush.

Such an important video right now, thank you, Sophie. I am an immigrant from post soviet space and I've found myself belonging in leftist spaces. But right now I find many leftists who have no idea what our countries are like, our history, our politicians, our societal issues, not only falling for blatant kremlin propaganda, but also gleefully cheering for an imperialist war lead by an authoritarian monster whose country is quickly becoming a fascist police state. It hurts so much and I now realise that basic compassion and empathy is not a precondition of the left, either. I feel like binaries never work.
