Dear Gert, I am a 69 year old Great Grandmother. I am sooooo proud of you and cry when I hear you play. I live with terrible pain, inability to sleep. I go to U tube and listen to you play with volume up and muscles relax, tightness melts away. My favorite is your Conquest of Paradise- Rolltide Hope Yiruma. I keep coming back to this piece. I'm sitting here, weepy eyes closed, just one big goosdbump. Pat, unfortunately I didn't have a computer years ago when I was on chemo fighting for my life. KZread is a great blessing in my life these days. Gert, I appreciate you so much for being so unassuming and casual with the talent God's given you.

+Pat Thurmond Best of luck to you, Mrs. Thurmond. Music can heal, and this talented pair of musicians are fine physicians. I would also suggest Oystein Baadsvik (a Norwegian tuba player, and no, I'm not joking, it helped me through hip surgery and retina surgery; try "Ordner Seg" and "The New Kid"), and the British duo Flanders and Swann. Also, if you have a friend with a calm, friendly dog, or if you have such an animal, you might find that the pet will drain away your stress and discomfort, and dissipate it.

(BTW, in case you haven't heard the UK group Libera, you have a huge treat in store! Many of their videos are on KZread.) Like you, I am also a senior citizen and enjoy great music performed by both these wonderful talents!

Im a huge fan of your music Gert. Thank you so much for sharing us your talent. Im based in New York now but back home in the Philippines we have a 200 year old organ made of Bamboos. Its the only Bamboo organ in the world. Hopefully one day you'll visit and play that organ. More power to you and your music!

I could watch and listen to you all day

This is a wonderful demonstration of Gert's improvisational skills! I wish I knew more about the occasion, which is listed as "Church night". Here's my interpretation: people are milling around, enjoying fellowship and conversations when Gert and Jan begin their "impromptu improvisation". Initially, they think "Oh, someone is playing the organ". Soon it becomes very quiet as people realize it's not just "someone playing the organ", but what they are hearing is pure musical genus.

Perfect Gert and Jan is really got a gift also. You have both been blessed.

WOW, WOW, WOW, first time I've listed to this piece. Wonderful. I play the organ, (not at this level) but I would be exhausted after playing that organ. Sounds GREAT.

Love the intensity I feel of both you and Jan. Incredible!

The power. The power of the music, the power of the organ, the power of the musician, at times it takes my breath away, and tears fill my eyes. There's only one other musical artist other than Gert that consistently does this for me, Pavarotti. Gert has a talent and gift like no other. We're blessed to hear him perform.

Gert, keep smiling at the camera! It makes such a difference in your videos. We mere earthlings can relate to the smiling angel at the keyboard.

Beautifuly played Gert. Your enthousiasm and energy are a breath of fresh air. And your talent is obvious. Thanks for posting such great pieces!

I did some research, and found that I was very close! "Kerkennacht" or "Church Night" is a time when many churches are open to visitors who come to explore and learn about them. This was, indeed, a spontaneous improvisation by Gert at the Chapel Church at Alkmaar, played on their 250 year old Müller pipe organ.

Thanks (if 6 years later) for explanation! Corrie ten Boom - champion for hiding Jews during WW2 - spoke often about the magnificent churches around Haarlem and the organs.

me too! this one with Jan, was truly a memorable (almost) spiritual performance

You can see in his behaviour, this guy has 'it'...brilliance. His improvisations are so great, so inventive...there are not 'too' many, who can do excactly this.

Pure wonderful talent and performance!

All of us who love the 'serious' organ repertoire had best get down on our knees and pray the astonishinly talented young man doesn't get seduced by the populist repertiore and waste his talent on works unworthy of his attention.

Gert - so nicely done. Registration is well structured. You have an able assistant. Well played. I am so gratified that the Dutch organs have such a wonderful fundamental on which to build the upperwork and reeds. Let's hear more recent performances.

The joy on your face is so much fun ! One is won by this enthusiasm when the pace accelerates, the desire to beat the measure with the foot .... BIG BRAVO !

This is my favorite for sure. I have played this over and over many times and it always excites me. This is also a great organ for this piece and others. Thanks for the calm it gives me.

One of my absolute favorites after almost 9 years... Came back to this to hear the masterpiece composed by Vangelis, was so sad to hear he passed away recently! The Choirs & Angels have (hopefully) grasped him and put him to be alongside them making the most wonderful music in Heaven!

I've been listening to this little guy for the last at least 3.5 years! I will be honest as I can, because that is the only thing going for me. well the rest of my life I would like to get him and parents to come to the U.S. mainly Baton Rouge, La. area I do know Dr. Herndon He is over the pipe organ teaching I've got some of his c.d.'s recordings when he studying in Paris,France and I thought he was great,but Gert is well past him already I just wish I would still be alive to see Gert when he is in his 50's !!!! the guy below me posted commenting on Gert vs C. Carpenter lol one loves real pipe organ music the other Just like a typical QUEEN got to show his ass. well I guess here talking about myself takes one to know one except before I would go through all his changes I will go back in the closet for good!!

God I love when Gert smiles and is enjoying his gift. Never lose this feeling.

Just listened to this piece again. Loved it. I like the cooperation with the friend doing the levers. I think you both were having more fun playing than we have listening!

I have never heard this song played like this! I can see it comes from the heart! Only people who play organ (it doesn't matter if its amateur or professional), understand the kick it gives when playing such a massive instrument.
