Indeed. Obviously there are exceptions. I remember them saying that Oscar Delahoya might have fallen into that mindset before the Vargas fight. However he did lose to Trinidad before he fought Fernando.

He was talking about fighting the winner of Diaz and Masvidal for the BMF belt because he's already fought Diaz. As far as him fighting gaethje, it's more about Conor getting rid of some ring rust before fighting the 3rd or 4th seed in his division, not because it's an *easy* fight. Gaethje isn't the number #1 contender either, that's Tony, and there's Poirier who beat gaethje.

Cowboy is tough ass fight. I think he does get hit a lot, but he's by no means a walk in the park.

I'm only six minutes in, but the only thing I can think is Conor can sound as sad and apologetic as he wants. It doesn't mean anything. Jon Jones has made all the same noises. "I'm really a good person." The only thing that will exonerate Conor is consistent, long term behavior change. Words are wind.

Luckily MollyWhop is a sincere and forgiving gentleman because, in my book, a grown man with another grown man's portrait tattooed on their body (excluding deceased relatives) definitely doesn't deserve any passes. At that point, it becomes some kind of creepy obsession they've lost control of.

@William Robert Ferguson fight was a doctor stoppage homie. The Gaethje ko wasn't "devastating" in terms of KOs. He was on a 3 fight win streak before that, he fought at welterweight and lightweight during his win streak as well. Perry, Hernandez and Al (he beat Al way more impressively then Khabib did.) I don't think that Conor is different than what he was against Aldo and Alvarez. I just think Conor got too big for his own good. His next two fights were against Floyd Mayweather and Khabib Nurmagomedov. Floyd is the best boxer who has ever lived. Of course Floyd mopped the floor with him. Khabib is the best grappler in MMA history. The worst matchup for any striker, and had never even surrendered a single round. Of course Khabib destroyed him. The competition level was simply too high for Conor. Little Aldo and journeyman Eddie are not the same level as Floyd and Khabib.

@Ahmed Ibrahim It's Khabib vs Tony time, and Conor is absolutely not getting a rematch for beating another journeyman Cowboy at 170 if he can even manage that. After Khabib vs Tony, I think Khabib probably waits for a GSP fight, or retires. There's no one else left at that point. Machachev is on the come up, and by the end of 2020, will have potentially secured a shot at the title. By that time Khabib will be long gone.

I am one of the biggest Conor McGregor fans out there, I've followed him ever since his first fight in the UFC back in 2013 and even though I was very excited when he decided to take the Khabib fight , I had a feeling that something was off in his head when I was watching the press conferences, especially the first one.... This video is a complete analysis of what happened during the last 2 years with Conor and I couldn't agree more. I truly believe that this time he is ready to go all in on his UFC training and if that does indeed happen, we will the see the Conor McGregor that we all loved once again! ethiopian phenomenon Conor’s cardio isn’t even that bad though, he was outstriking Alvarez at a high pace for 2 rounds straight and didn’t look tired at all. He dominated Diaz in their rematch in the fourth round and the beginning of the fifth round. The only time he has gassed was in his first fight against Diaz and that was on short notice PLUS he was on antibiotics cause of his staph infection. Against Khabib he looked good conditionally even though he was getting mauled for three rounds.

stephen hartley I wouldn’t say Conor’s cardio’s is terrible and I never said that. The point I’m making is Conor’s lethalness goes down after the second round and Cowboy starts turning it up after the second round. Conor is not really a 5-round decision type of fighter despite his razor thin win over Nate Diaz. If Conor doesn’t knock him out early, Cerrone is going to trying to take him down and if Conors tired there is little he can do to stop it. Even Diaz took Conor down and Diaz has terrible wrestling.

Not sure how Mc is gonna deal with his cardio problem this time around. Doesn't get any easier as he gets older. All said every man deserves a chance to redeem himself. After all no one was killed during the making of this disaster flick. There's redemption for all !

Very perceptive and a realistic opinion. I totally agree. When someone climbs back in with that type of bank waiting for them at home it's a true show that the money don't give a rush like fighting at this level. If he was a man of his word back then? Then he still wants to challenge himself now to further his legacy. If we can forgive Mike Tyson for raping woman lol and Floyd for beating woman. Then let's hope folks forgive Connor for his wrongs. If you gave the ones judging and degrading Connor a 100 mill they would all be broke with aids, crackheads and a hooker addiction within a week.

Yup. This whole past year has left him really shook. Cowboy is the easiest fight possible if his goal is the BMF belt or the Khabib rematch. And, in my opinion, he's gonna get a big wake up call if/when he faces either of those 2. Nate is the easiest fight of those 3 options, so I wouldn't be surprised if Conor fights next month, wins handedly, and a Conor/Nate trilogy fight announced a month or two after.

McGregor would finish both Poirier (again) and Gaethje. Would love to see him fight Masvidal and Nurmagomedov(again). Don't know if he could win but if he let's his hand's go ya never know. Maybe stay away from Khabib tbh

I’ve got five minutes in so far. To me the interview has similarities to an addicted that has hit the bottom and realises that they have to change. The uncertainty has there yes, but I view this interview also as cathartic, a place where Conor can grow from and come back rededicated and renewed.
