A lot of people complaining about the sparring partner “going light” or “ being amateur level” ... if you’ve ever sparred in any legitimate gym before coaches often make you train with someone not as good as you or tell pros to go easy on you to help sharpen your technique and boost confidence. Even at the highest level world famous pros still often spar with amateurs or go light. Obviously you’ll still have heavy sparring days where your both pushing eachother but the problem with consistently sparring in that manner is not only CTE but it creates sloppy technique. If you’ve ever noticed how calm and confident Conor is when he fights , just like how he’s sparring here. You don’t always have to go full clip in sparring to get better.

Grant Franchey Exactly right. Also, it is a great learning experience for any fighter coming up to through the ranks to spar lightly with world class fighters, the amount of learning in a short technical spar must be incredible! It’s not all about seeing who can batter who; what is learned when you’re just getting battered? Many incredible Thai fighters also only spar technique and light.

well shoulder strikes are normally used to irritate the fighters, disturb their breathing patterns, or to ‘look busy’ for the referee, so that the fighters aren’t separated. So actually, it could be seen as something new, since they rarely do any damage, let alone break someone’s nose!

I'm a Conor fan and he seemed not right heading into that fight. I want to see a sharp Conor fight Khabib, too, but it's crazy that he's not going in prepared against his toughest opponent ever. Do we actually know he was getting pissed that week? Or is that an excuse that he's thrown out there to distract from him just not being able to handle the competition? It's not a good thing for him either way. He has a history of showing up in the big moment and then his biggest moment he didn't. It's unfortunate. I hope to see a rematch, too. I don't think it will happen, but even a focused Conor will have an uphill battle against Khabib's boring, fucking bear hug style. It's hardly entertaining, but it is effective. I hope it happens and I hope Conor is victorious.

Gsdizzle91 exactly what I've been saying to people on here who keep commenting same stupid shit about why aren't his sparring partners fighting back or pushing him! They don't understand professional fighting obviously, NO ONE goes hard on their last session before a fight, it's case of tapping and moving around just to get blood pumping and bit of a sweat on.....that's it, simple really

Dude it's his last spar before a fight hes not gonna go to war in the gym. This spar is likely about maintaining his timing and keeping sharp
