Go back and watch the interviews with JS Giguere and Ron Hextall when they won the Conn Smythe in losing efforts. Yeah they were both crying, upset and couldn't give a sh@t about the award but they still put on their big-boy pants, came out and accepted the award. It's called being a professional

Respect to McDavid. He's the Messi of Hockey, and the fact that he pays homage to how well the Panthers played says loads about his character.

Coming this far is something to be proud of also. Hell of a fight. Only one team can win.

McDavid rules. I was born in the same hospital as the guy in Richmond Hill, Ontario (different years) and even played on the same AAA youth team as a kid (I didn't play with him). York Simcoe Express. So I admit I'm fully biased Connor then went on to play in the GTHL for the Toronto Marlies, went to Junior A, got drafted by the Oilers and the rest is history. Just a matter of time till he wins a Stanley Cup imo.

Pittsburgh had depth in those wins and we saw tonight the depth of Florida's 3rd & 4th line doing the gritty work that wins championships. Edmonton is missing that depth but they had an absolute incredible season and McDavid Captained that like a 20yr veteran

Unfortunately going down 0-3 hurt the Oilers chances bigtime. Impressive they were able to battle back and push the series to 7 games. Just a matter of time till McDavid wins his first Cup imo.

Respect McDavid for doing this interview after a heartbreaking moment, that’s why he’s my idol and I respect him as a human being and amazing hockey player.

The series was decided by one goal difference, could have gone either way, great teams on both ends, both teams had hard paths to the finals, was really fun hockey to watch, tough sad finish for the Oilers, but I cant wait for another push to the finals from then next year.

@@RobertooNunezz-bz8bg yeah I used to be a Canucks fan, I grew up in the Vancouver area, that was a very tough loss, unfortunately a riot broke out and drunk fans decided to trash their own city which was replicated in the finals against Boston in 2011 which was 4-3 Boston victory in game 7.

McDavid has a lot to be proud of. I know it stings but this series just shows that they can do it. Thanks from Canada and giving us a series to root for.

Let’s separate the proposed loss of the Cup into something truly extraordinary! Connor McDavid is the best player in the NHL today. He led the Oilers to a record setting season. He led from the top down and his team mates responded in kind. These players didn’t loose the game; they made the series one of the best Stanley Cup Finals ever. They not only did their Fans and city proud; they made all of Canada proud. Let’s take that away when considering this 2-1 Game 7 Final. They could have easily won the Cup! They never gave up, they fought to the last second and to me that’s as much of a win as you can get without winning! I am filled with pride for all they accomplished so let us as a Nation embrace these players into our heart for they did us very proud.

If my Leafs don't win the cup, I consider it a lost season. You make it sound as if it's a Canada cup and all you have to do to win is be the last Canadian team in the playoffs. That would make sense if we actually played eachother. We don't...

You could tell when asked about the Conn Smythe he just wanted to say “who cares” but then showed great restraint and gave the classy answer

It isn’t McDavid’s time. Crosby lost to the red wings and Gretzky lost to the Islanders. Gretzky went to the Islanders locker room and saw that the Islander players were bruised and battered and paid the price to win the Stanley Cup. Connor’s time is coming. At this level, winning and losing is based on fine margins.

They did their best. Hard road but it is not easy coming back from a 3 game hole and win game 7 in their barn. Nothing to be ashamed of Connor. Always next year.

Edmonton may benefit from a physical and nifty deflection expert in front of the net. I would never have guessed them making the final after their start. Whichever players they acquired have made a huge difference. They will be back. Congrats to Florida. As expected.

They made this a great series, they should be proud of what they achieved. Someone had to lose, and it would have been hard on either team so come so close to the prize. Your day will come, hopefully you can keep the team together for next year and get another shot.

As a Kings fan, I cant stand the Oilers for obvious reasons, but boy did they put on a show. They started like 3-13 ans then..... Wow what a year. What a great sport, what a series, and what a player. Ypu really feel bad tgat someone had to lose. You have to think the Oilers will be back just like Florida did.

Not an Oilers fan or a McJesus fan but I do feel for the dudes. Florida just has so many Finns and I like their team in general. Different setup and I might have been rooting for Oil. On the plus side he's now proven that getting there is possible and even likely. Go get it next year

Every Oiler deserves the recognition for their max efforts. A tuff to take loss for sure but they battled to the last second.... Bobrovsky was a shot blocking machine .... Cheers to you 2023/24 Oilers...See you in October..come back healthy and stronger.

As a Canucks fan I don't care what anyone says the Oilers were the standout team and the 'stars' of 2024. I do not want to face you guys again in round 2 at all . Well done . You are Titans and the only team the will be remembered from this season

As a Leafs fan, I am devastated for the Oilers esp McDavid. It would been a great celebration in Edmonton and Canada to see the cup come home. I don't care the Panthers won, it is more of a gulf town anyways. This is so heartbreaking!
