Hello everyone.
Today, we have a discussion on how tungsten length affects the weld bead.
The angle of the torch along the tungsten length,
The changes in the melt pool according to the angle of the torch are captured in the video.
When doing TIG welding...
We compared the changes that appear when applying different shapes of molten pool to the "cup walking technique".
Thanks for watching.
Please take good care of your health.

I hear temperature can change the colors that appear. It would be interesting to see this test redone with a temperature read on the different welds.

Muito obrigado seus vídeos estão me ajudando muito professor
Jak zawsze ciekawy film , pozdrawiam ;)
Thank you very much, creator. I benefited a lot from you
Thanks for the explanation and flawless technique; a thing that i would like to point out is the fact that with shorter tungsten it seems that you have more heat input due to the angle and probably the lower travel speed, if you look to the color the 5mm tungsten bead is kinda blueish, while the other 2 are goldish. I may be wrong but to me this means that with 10 and 15 mm tungsten you have a more proper gas coverage and less heat input in the workpiece

Друг, ты - лучший! Я мечтаю научиться варить железо так же, как ты.
Nice job , ever run the Arkansas bell hole ? Yrs ago I tig the roots from boiler tubes, pipe and triple X main steam line . Never walked the cup always free hand left n right hand . Times have changed . Nice crown on inside ! Great I are sharing techniques!
진심 유익했네요 감사합니다
Your tig welding skills are extremely impressive. I mostly do flux core welding at my work, with some stick/tig at smaller intervals.

Hail Brazil ! You the best welding !
Man, this is just what I was looking to have answered and this guy did a fantastic job of explaining! I have watched some of his other videos and this guy is pretty darn good. Interesting that he uses a percentage of the "outside" diameter whereas I was taught using the inside diameter. I personally like a medium tight weave or pitch. Just seems easiest for me on my wrist and arm. I usually stick out the id distance (number of cup in 16ths) except for the root. I will shorten that about a 16th of an inch to point inwards to center of pipe a bit more. Otherwise he is right that it really is a matter of personal preference and comfort level. Love this guy's tutorials tho. Very informational.

The biggest thing here is he’s also not using 2 pieces of metal and tossing the weld under a chop saw to show you the penetration. The more angle you have away from vertical, the less heat you’re putting into penetration, which is bad for thick material, but very handy if your getting down into gauges (22ga instead of say 1/8” plate). He talks about it, but he should have done a chop on each plate to show the difference. It all matters and changes upon material thickness and type. There’s also something to be said about how your argon will perform under high angles…. you better crank up the gas if you’re running that much stick-out. He’s a pretty good welder from the few videos I’ve seen. I too was taught using inner cup diameter and most welding I do is basically “stick-out equals I.D.”, but sometimes I toss a ton out with a huge gas flow to get into a tight corner, or I suck that baby way in to get a good weave and penetration.
