As an Indian classical bharatanatyam dancer and an engineer to be/ a science enthusiast. This is all I needed to see. This is all my work and life is based on. For reference seach India's top 20 Under 20 on Google. My feature on the list is based purely on this. Very very very glad to see someone who's now a new inspiration , in the similar shoes as me, very,VERY glad.
I love it when new MiT videos come out. This is great content. Kudos to her!

Wonderful to see this!! Especially since I last saw Shriya as a baby. What an amazing artist and scientist she has grown into. The world needs more of this. As a disabled Bharata Natyam artist myself, this is such meaningful progress to see, and it gives so many people hope.❤
felt like a breath of fresh air in this busy ever buzzing world and im grateful u uploaded that
I love it when ancient and modern technology/art come together through wonderful people like Ms.Srinivisan ! What a pleasure to withness it in this era :)
This is emotional and spiritual bliss. I was told to let my residual limb muscles die. I would get a better socket in less time by allowing my muscles to wilt or die. NO WAY!! My surgeon said I was the first patient he had ever seen that could move the remaining muscles. It's been 9 years and I still move them and exercise my residual muscles HOPING THAT ONE DAY THE ABILITY TO MOVE MY MUSCLES WILL QUALIFY ME FOR A SENSORY LIMB! I had a surgical amputation three months after a motorcycle wreck. I purchased an I-walk 2 prior to my first socket and WALKED into the office for my first fitting. I was surprised that Hangar didn't know what I was using to walk! I believe I have muscle control and longevity is because I am an athlete. I no longer play full court basketball but I did return to a childhood sport. I BMX bicycle raced as a child/teen and my folks still own the local Schwinn bicycle shop so I traded in the one speed 20" bicycle for gears and roads and trails. Riding my bicycle (and my Harley-no adaptive equipment on either one) are the only activities that do not hurt my residual limb plus the bicycle pedaling movement exercises and strengthens my residual muscles. It has been 9 years and I can move my remaining muscles. When people ask me if I still have phantom pain I say that I don't want the pains and sensations to completely disappear because one day there will be a better limb that will require these muscles to function. I have worked my entire life for physical fitness , to strengthen my muscles. I "practice" wiggling my toes. I move my residual muscles every step I take and I truly exercise my residual muscles on my bicycle. I am a BKLA since 2014. My prosthetic supplies are covered for life through Workers Compensation Insurance. CHUBB Insurance has been a blessing as well as my clinician. Having an adjustable ankle and a riding leg (for my motorcycle) has helped me stay active and continue living a normal life. I have prayed and will continue manifesting my own progress toward becoming a test subject for you. Please contact me so I can participate on some level. And thank you!! My Best, Michelle Cooper 270-999-8801
Really inspiring how dance and science can be done so beautifully and elegantly by the same person 🥺🙏
This is exactly the kind of stuff I’m interested in. I’ve always loved the intricacy of dance and as a doctor I wish there were more opportunities to be a part of programs like this when I was growing up. Amazing work.
I hope she keeps following her passions, because both are making the world a better place. Thank you, if you are reading this comment. Thank you very much. ❤
Remarkable how advanced your research has been into prosthetics, such a noble cause. On top that , it feels so right that to propel the nuances towards perfection a dance guru researcher spearheads it.
What a wonderful and beautiful person! Would love to hear more from Shriya!
Wow.. She is definitely one definition of person with beauty and brain💞🙏Such an inspiration
When art drives engineering the results are awesome as yours, truly amazed by your work 😀
actually i am phd student at a college in southern USA, we also use EMGs for better control of prosthetics. The tough part is that the EMG signals are quite inconsistent so you need to build filters and algorithms to detect when those muscles are being actuated. Also we've tried putting rudimentary capacitive force sensors in proesthetic legs to capture better feedback to control the foot. great area of research !
Beautiful ! What a meaningful venture :)
Brilliant. Simply brilliant. Respect !!!!
Wow.. You have really achieved the perfect yet delicate balance between work and passion ❤ Hat’s off to you !

Nah, that's pretty tough to accomlish, since you gotta have different nerons for each toe as well as for plantar and dorsiflexion of the ankle.. There's also the ability to move your foot from side to side. Honestly, it would be easier to make a robotic foot with more degrees of freedom than a human foot , but the problem would be to determine the signals from the sensors in the legs to correspond to the feet. That's more of the problem than reconstructing just the feet.
Its really beautiful to us as well. Thank you.
Glad to watch this video. A inspiration for me.
