Connecticut: Great New Haven & River Valley - New England

Visit the Greater New Haven region ith its world-class arts at Yale and lively city scene. Coastal towns -- Branford, Guilford, Madison and Clinton -- share the personality of the area with intimate bookstores, colorful boutiques and fine dining. Hammonasset State Park in Madison has three distinct beach areas and a nature preserve.
In the northern, central region of the state the Connecticut River is the centerpiece as it meanders through towns and cities. Along the way you'll find the meticulously restored Victorian State Capital in Hartford along with Mark Twain's home and the Wadsworth Atheneum, the oldest public art museum in the country. Essex, Chester, Old Saybrook and other towns along the river, are charming. Haddam is home to the quirky Gillette's Castle with one of the best vistas of the river. Take an Essex River Train Ride and Ferry Cruise to see it.
