I love my Congo's! They are so beautiful and fun to watch. I love watching them during feeding time because they will eat the sinking wafers (meant for the plecco) are carry it around the tank like a dog playing keep away. They are a lot of fun and love very peacefully with my Barb communities.
We used to sell loads of cardinal tetras for medium to large tanks and to see them mature and shoaling is a very nice sight.
Just have my first 10 congo tetras ....for some reason, I have put off getting these fish for over 6 months, now that they are here, wow, what was I waiting for?? Thanks for the push to get them! Love your channel!
I love these info videos they are very informative and it is a useful tool to learn about other fish as well
great video! I absolutely love Congo Tetras. When I get my first tank big enough, first thing I'm getting is a nice size school of them.
Fantastic fish and a great video Mike. Keep them coming.
Great info. Just what I was looking for. Thanks!
Just A Beginners I Just LOVE my Congo Tetras. Thanks 4 Video
great care guide Mike
Great video, well done!
I'm just new to the congo's, i have a school of 12 in my 70 gallon community tank, and they've been fantastic. Gliding around the structure and just really being a lively fish to watch for the most part. They aren't aggressive, but they aren't shy either.
good info mate thx
Have a group of 10. Love them
yes keep doing care guides
nice video dude
you should do one of these on Cardinal Tetras, or even a Neon Tetra
You should do a fish profile on the striped Raphael catfish
Congo tetras are one of my favorites

@@captainobvious9230 with enough plants, yes.. I dropped a few in my heavily stocked 55g with harlequins, corys, bristlenose and squishy the friendly Betta. No problem.
Hello, I just picked up 5 at my local shop. Can you be more specific on what kinds of Live food? Thanks!
beautiful video quality. . i love those Congo tetras.. but then again I'm a tetra guy. is this shot with an iPhone?
The plants you have on the outside of the tank really have some root system. My wife has a few of those plants hanging and they are over 10ft long. I just might cut a few and hang them from the edge of the tank. I like the way yours look. Those fish are really really nice.

I was just about to ask what plant is rooted so amazingly out the top of the tank, please?

+Chris Locke The one my wife has is call pothos plant. They grow very long. We have one that hanging on the window and it's so long she hang the stem on a light 8ft high then goes to the floor and she has it double.

Hi Mike, great video as always. I have a 55 gallon community tank with a male betta, Bolivian rams, honey gourami's, 2 schools of tetras (neons, rummys) and rasboras. Are Congo tetra good to go in this community? Thanks
how many would you recommend in a jewel lido 120 litre tank currently i have 6 and a leopard climbing perch as a tankmate
What website do you get ur fish from I got to local petco but as I get more into the hobby and I am getting a 75 gallon tank
I keep my temp on 86 I have 6 of them along with 5 diamond tetras 2 angels and 6 male cherry barbs I'm buying a 45 gallon soon ..
I have 3 archers in a 75g and looking for a schooling fish. Now I HAVE to get these.
my fav fish
cool fish , Tha ks
I have 4 congo tetras with 4 rosy barbs. Im not sure if congos are suppose to be active but they seem to stay as a group in the middle of the tank mainly in one spot. However, the barbs are exploring the tank and even chasing each other. I think that maybe they are stressing the congos. i suspect i have all males barbs so i may have to try find some females so they would stop scaring the congos? I heard its hard to find females as they are considered bland though so what should i do?
How many can I keep in a 46 gal tank with 4 sterba cory and 6 neon tetras.
I have 3 pairs of Congo Tetra in my 55 gallon tank. They are about 1.5 inches in size however they haven't yet attained the colours as can be seen in the video. How big should they get in order to attain the colouring?
Can you use Congo Tetras as dithers for large, aggressive cichlids like Green Terrors?
my favorite fish:)
Hi Mike.. can we keep shrimp with Congo tetras and also can we keep just a school of male congos... By the way...great work... Keep going 🤟
Can be tank with Hujeta gar?
Can I keep them with African Dwarf frogs? If not can you suggest one other species please

+wyzemann Agreed. The dislikes are weird.
how many should be kept minimum? is male female ratio a factor?
Hello, Nice presentation. Can you enlighten me 1. Why my congos of 2 weeks age are hiding all the time? 2. can I keep all the males without female? 3. Can I add excel in the tank?
What's your opinion on keeping these with Cardinal Tetras? Say 6 Congos and however many Cardinals as the primary fish in a 55 gallon?
How big tetra can grow
When I get my 75 cycled I hope to get 6-10 for it.
Can i keep them with cardinals? Also can i keep males only?
do they eat shrimps
I saw them at my fish store and asked the guy who worked there if they needed to be kept in a school of if they could be solo. he said that they didn't need to be in schools but should be kept in a pair. I bought a pair. I added them to my 40 gallon tank with 1 betta, 1 Cory catfish, and 7 glolite tetras. I'm wondering if I should buy a few more to give them a school but worry that it will be too many fish for this tank. especially when the grow to full size. do you have any suggestions?

Anita Santana max out your filtration in some way they'll be fine
Nice to see all the commenters getting their questions answered. May as well turn the comments off..
I am starting up a 20 gallon fresh water at the moment. I have got the tank started, gonna have to get some plants in there. What are some good plants to start with? I have never had real plants before and I am basing what fish I get after the plants have settled. You said these go for a 40 gallon but would 20 be too small? thanks so much!

Java Ferns are by far the easiest plant to keep. From the stories Ive heard, you need to put them in bleach just to kill them. Moss Balls are another easy one. If they can be kept in tap water, They'll thrive in an aquarium. Duckweed and Frogbit are other good options if you want floating plants. Just remember, you need low light plants if you want to add other plants with these floating ones. Other good options are most Anubias Species, Amazon Sword Ferns, Jungle Val, Java Moss, and Dwarf baby tears. As for care, you want to be adding Co2 to your aquarium. You can get an automated gas system, or just by liquid bottles of it that you add to the aquarium manually. Lighting, it depends on the kind of plants. Just know that your LED lights included with your tank won't cut it. As for fertilizer, liquid ones are always the best. Especially of you tie your plants to driftwood or have floating/non-rooted plants.

Andrea T Dont mention it. Id recommend only 3-4 species of plants. Often times, simplicity is beautiful. If I were you, Id put Frogbit in there, tie a couple of Java Ferns and Anubias to driftwood and put them in the background. Then place Moss Balls in the foreground Chances are, your fish will love them. If you'd like links for care guides, I can send you them.

When I fed Congo Tetras bananas or plantains I'm sure their purple colors showed more.

Big Fat Tony's can you make a video of your congo eating banana
They won't eat plants you say? My CT ate up all my hydrocotae tripartita (did I get that right?) Anyway, yeah that plant is all gone now.
I was about to pick up 5, but now I’m going for 8
15 gallon tank isn't enough?
All of the text books on this fish are incorrect as far as size. 3 inches is not correct. In a decent size aquarium, lightly stocked and fed a good diet the males can reach between 4 to 5 inches, females smaller. And when you see a male Congo at 4 inches and larger they are truly stunning!
They definitely get more than 3 inch
couldn't you just put one or two in a ten gallon...?
I had a bad day. Why? Because my Congo ate my rainbow fish fry
i bought 10 and 6 died
"they won't eat plants." Uhhhh mine eat most plants. If you don't overfeed them, they will destroy most of your plants. I came here to see which plants you're keeping with yours, but now I'm not certain I trust what you're doing. I have pentazonas, yoyo loaches, and Congos. Plants were fine until the Congos were added.
