I've been there three times, and it's spectacular. The first time I was five and wanted to run down that thing, Mom said "No". My parents said I walked the whole thing and never complained about being tired. Next visit I was 24 and my boyfriend insisted on taking the elevator route. Last time I was 41 and insisted taking the long way, my shins ached all the next day! I was glad there was a nice kennel on site for my dog who rode with us in a small RV all the way from LA to Dallas!

@@RmationYT No, we don't do sacrifices. This is an Old Testament story, we primarily follow the New Testament. I believe this is referencing the story of Abraham and Issac. -Story Time! God tells Abraham to sacrifice his first and only son, Issac. God is testing Abraham's faith and trust in Him. Abraham is sad, but does as he is told. He doesn't tell Issac for fear of him running away. Usually, they went together to the mountaintop to sacrifice a lamb, but this time, there is no lamb. Issac is confused, but carries on, trusting his father. When they reach the top of the mountain Issac is told to lie down on the altar. At this moment, Issac realizes what is happening, but he allows himself to be tied down, because he knows his father must have a good reason. Right before Abraham swings a knife to Issac's throat, God calls for Abraham to stop (it might have been an angel, but that isn't important). God thanks Abraham for his faith and reveals a ram, stuck in the bushes, for Abraham to sacrifice instead. Issac is spared, and Abraham learns that he can always trust God, even if the plan seems strange. In this Tumblr post, it is likely that the OP's father was not told to stop the knife, hence the lack of response.
