It all depends on the person's priorties. One must weigh in pros and cons. I had been in similar situation and went for onsite option. It took 3 months for the visa to be processed and I managed to fly. However, we lost that account in next 6 months when SoW was to be signed and almost entire onshore team travelled back offshore. Having said this, in terms of decision, one should think of one's comfort level in the project, how the manager and overall team is, how good is onsite manager. If there is toxic environment in the project, manager is a pestering one, then there is no room for any negotiation for me, just serve the notice period and wait for farewell. On the other hand, if one is knowledgeable and comfortable in the project, the manager is trustworthy and genuine and as you have mentioned in the video if he has a specific plan in mind, then there may not be harm in accepting onsite offer. But always be ready for the worst case possibility that there is every chance that it may not work out. It's a calculated risk.

It also depends on why a person would choose to go out and get interviewed. I would say take a long term view of what you need, money or opportunity and pursue based on it.

I am no way connected to IT, but in a similar situation like this, I will go with Accenture. The reason is not only the money which I will be getting as a hike, but also, the journey in the new company may also give another opportunity to to work On-site (I assume this is client base somewhere in a foreign country or on a reputed project). The new job came to me based on my skills, competencies and experience and is a direct measure of my success...projects will definitely come as long as I contribute to the organization. My skills, competencies are directly measured (and compensated) through the monetary benefits I receive, so if these are marked and offered, I will accept and grow further in Accenture! Now will watch the remaining part of video!

Nowadays only if you stay in the company for more than 5 yrs they consider you to send onsite. If you join in a new company there is no chance you will get onsite opportunity sooner due to internal politics. The old employees of the Accenture wouldn't let you go since they themselves are waiting for a long time.

I will go with Accenture , reason for that is: When we make decision to switch we should consider all the factors, weather its package, role, technologies etc. including the case of onsite opportunity. If I am really interested in onsite opportunity I will myself ask for it or negotiate for it before resigning not accepting it after resigning .

I believe that a good career is dependent on how a person manages his/her money too. Could you make a video on how you manage your personal finances, investments etc. without giving any numbers of course. 😊

Best option is to switch. Never stay with any counter offer by current employer. Especially with service based companies. 6LPA will be adjusted with PPP (purchasing power parity) to the onside country. Which means my CTC will still remain same and zero growth. Always go for money(if experience is less than 10 years of experience)

Take the onsite opportunity because we can make more money. Also try to prolong your onsite and try to become a permanent resident of the country and once time is right, switch company in that country. Here I am only considering the on site opportunity is in Europe. Bcoz my wife did the same thing. and she is now a permanent resident of that country.

I have lived and worked in multiple countries and now settled in India. What I realised is that If you have talent and work hard you can be successful anywhere in the world. When I started my career there used to be huge differences between India and abroad. Building careers was easier abroad and salary was much higher. Things have changed now. Not only salary has increase drastically in India (at least in tech industry), work culture and quality of work is quite similar in India nowadays. Many of my friends working in FAANG and other Big Tech companies in India are earning > 50LPA (in some cases over 1CR). They are not really interested to go to "onsite". Some working abroad at senior level in MNCs even took internal transfer and came back to India.

Stay and go to onsite. 1. Financial benefit. 2. Resume will look much better with fewer jumps and onsite role. 3. Potential to jump company in abroad. And get PR. 4. 4l might look as a difference now, but it is really not compared to an onsite. 5. few months down line you can crack another interview with 10l or better package. But get onsite on new company is even harder.

Resigned from tcs in 2022 , tcs promises are just vague and verbal , no transparancy in tcs process either for promotion or onsite , they will raise a dummy request just for convincing but it takes quaters to years to get all approvals and moreover manager would not gove anything in written , even if they do they wont honour it , tcs is now becoming a clerical govt office setup where too many approvals for a small thing is required , i would go with 10 lpa with Accenture

The main problem behind the 'Indian' ideology is the word 'Onsite' itself. What is the need to work FROM a foreign country just for the sake of it if you can work from home? In case you have a particular expertise that is highly sought after in a foreign country and you have a mindset to work IN a foreign country, then why not work with an employer there directly? Why would someone want to fall at the feet of all these so called managers in India and beg for onsite? Or why would someone fall for an onsite offer in the situation as mentioned here in this video? This happens only to people who do not possess any real differentiating skillset in their domain but still want to work from out of India for the 'money' and other perks it offers. After all, it is each individual's choice where they want to work, it should not be dictated or controlled by other people. To make this happen there needs to be some leverage within oneself, which is the differentiating skillset. Before I get shot down for the above comment, I am a manager in a western country and I work for an MNC based out of this country and I am paid really well, way more than what one would get for the typical 'Onsite'. I did not go onsite, rather, I was interested in moving out of India due to personal reasons. With my observations of the outer world while working in the 'assembly line' called Indian IT industry, I figured out what was needed to be considered by foreign employers and I worked towards enhancing that. Later when the time was right, I showcased my skills and was invited to work for this company, needless to say, I am quite satisfied with the outcome. Please do note, no begging or grovelling involved, I made my own path. It was not even an interview, rather it was a discussion between the company and myself on how I can help them achieve their objectives and how I expect them to support me towards my goal. No person of Indian origin was involved in my discussions and that probably contributed to them recognising and accepting my value proposition (I do not intend to stereotype).

It should be noted that not everyone at onsite needs to be regarded as talented nor those working at offshore are dumb. While I respect the fact that you took pain in showcasing your skills and finding a foreign employer , you need to accept the fact that everyone gets great opportunities. Luck plays a major role in finding the best projects and technology. There are many who have come onsite by begging managers but some have carved a path for themselves and switched companies and jobs at onsite. In your case , you did it from offshore , but for those who did not get an opportunity at offshore they have to take this route to succeed. At the end of the day , if the person is really talented and deserving then there is no harm in begging for an onsite Before you shot me down with your comments , I wish to say that I have spent over 10 years at onsite and have come here without begging my manager. I am just speaking on behalf of those talented and hard working ones who are not getting the right opportunities . Understand that Life is not equal and fair for everyone.

@CareerTalk you hit the nail going to onsite in USA and earning in dollar make sense unless your package is not more than 50 lpa in INDIA . Even i feel in india competition is very high to earn high package of 50 lap as developer / technical specialist is very rare this same job can be easly acheived in USA or UK. I have seen my friends byuing 2 to 3 property e.g flats . land in expesnive city like PUNE only due to their onsite earning. There they dont slog a lot work only from 9 am to 6 pm , on other hand in india we earn only 25 lpa and do meeting and clients call is going beyond 8 pm or more

I would prefer only if TCS give me in written that it will be long term on site opportunity . Since short term and without commitment it would be not good option. Always go with option were you can trust the employer. Onsite these days are not good as there is not much saving. Specially if you married or having kids. Stay in India with INR and enjoy your social life and better saving.

If you have never lived in a developed country, take the on-site offer (after confirming it is legit). It might set your life’s course and not just career. I happened to go on-site within the first year of my career. 3 more countries and 2 decades later, I am thankful I did take the first opportunity. If you have lived in a developed country before and you want to live there longer, you need to take control of your destiny. Get a pr or work visa and work directly for an employer instead of going through middlemen.

I would choose Accenture with 10Lacs.. Because first it raises question on integrity of previous employer, that they are only able to see the worth after resigning? Also they are not 100% guaranteed that I will get onsite.. also what the salary I will get and which country will go or for what duration will I go.. so best is go with Accenture. There also you can go onsite if project demands

NEVER TRUST the bait of Onsite after you resign. I repeat NEVER. Reason: If they haven't thought of sending you earlier , then there is NO reason to believe that they will send you now. If onsite is something you aim for, you can get it in Accenture as well. GO with ACCENTURE. But if more hike AND Onsite is on offer , there are chances to stay back but don't rollback your resignation until you have your hike letter with effective month.

This is a subjective decision depending on your age, priorities and family circumstances. Yes, if you get a email confirmation with all on-site details from your manager and his manager in loop, that’ll provide me a certain confidence. If your manager isn’t willing to cut that email, I would recommend to go with Accenture offer. Also, people sent on-site are paid less than people who are directly recruited. And obviously, the expenses are on the higher side. And if you’re married and planning to bring in your spouse/kids, research on opportunities in their field. So make a calculated decision on financial front.

Offer 11.5 lpa aprox. Current 6lpa in current company. If i ask manager to increase my CTC, so i am assuming, now my current ctc is 8Lpa. What should now i can do ? Remain in the same company with 8lpa Or join a New company.

In my view if money is priority for you then 11.5 is still a lot more than 8 lpa. If there are other factors or priorities then consider those as well

Yes jayasri, you may get Onsite opportunity with 2 plus years of experience. It depends on visa guidelines though. Some countries require a minimum experience and education qualification.
