hi , how do i do this if i have a d-link router connecting to pldt router. i do not have my pldt router password but i am assuming this doesnt matter, so long as it gets internet already. i dont see the section that operation mode, maybe its different on d-link. Appreciate if u can come back to me?

Another great tutorial! This is just what I needed. Now I don't have to waste much money on buying cables to extend my WIFI. Double Thumbs Up! However, ddwrt has a very limited router firmwares. Hope there are other firmwares we can use to make use old router! Thanks!

Hey man thanks for this information. I am in Africa and this really helped me out a lot. One of the problems I had with my mofi is that I had to change a numeral in my IP router (repeater) address so it did not match the SSID signal router I was trying to repeat. Great information. Thanks so much for your advice Torogi. It seems some routers have better GUIs than others. Are you familiar with the Netgear DG834G router? I've been trying to configure it as a WiFi repeater but just can't get it to work. Your advice will be much appreciated.

Hello, i followed all of these rules but i really couldnt understand them well, my router is a Tenda and its been factory reset, i want to use it as a repeater and my main router is a Huawei and it used Vodafone Fibre, i dont have any long Ethernet cables in my house but i have short ones to connect to my laptop and stuff. Is there a chance if i make all of these configurations then remove all the lan cables then put my router somewhere else in my house that it will work?

If you use the open source firmware, I realize that it opens up functionality, like you described to set the old E2000 to be used in repeater mode, but are there increases in protocols too? Like does it increase it to use the newer AC protocols or is the hardware still limited in speed?

Just to be clear, because there are many "terminologies" . Your extender has a "media adapter" feature. The difference between that and the repeater is that the repeater is wifi only. (full discloser, I didn't watch the rest of the video) so with regular routers, can't go line - wifi - wifi - line. Correct?

Can I setup my old Verizon food -G1100 as a repeater? I can’t find a firmware update on SD-wrt. Can you help me please. Thank you

No. They will connect wirelessly.

Oh and about the ddwrt thing, i cannot install it on my old router for my laptop has no ethernet cable connection. So that’s basically why i am having a hard time making my old d-link router as a repeater

I typed in the model # "firmware download" into a browser and found opensource download on another site.

Hi Torogi! I have a router HG659 which can connect a maximum 15 wifi devices. My question... If I connect a wifi extender or repeater will it increase the number of wifi devices that can connect to my wifi network? Hoping for your advice.

after you finished setting up the repeater, can you disconnect it and have it communicate with the master only trough wifi and still be a repeater? thanks!

Can i turn of the wifi duplication part so i only see 1 wifi when searching for wifi and just use the Ethernet ports to connect to devices without wifi (or broken wifi error 31)

What if you've upgraded from ADSL to VDSL? Will the old Westell 7500 work as a wifi extender for the new VDSL faster speed. I needed to upgrade to a Zyxel C3000Z for the VDSL 60mb speed. The westell was limited to 8 to 10MBS.
