This Friday sermon was delivered at the Muslim Community Center - East Bay (MCC East Bay) in Pleasanton, California on November
26, 2021.
In this sermon, Dr. Ali Ataie provides an inspiring and insightful discourse on the need for Muslims to ground themselves in the Qur’an and the Sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Please listen carefully to this brief and powerful khutbah.

Ustadh Ali Ataie is one of the foremost leading scholars in comparative religions today. He is currently a teacher and researcher of the Islamic Sciences and specializes in theology and biblical interpretation. Additionally he is also the President and Founder of Muslim Interfaith Council and he has been heavily involved in interfaith activities for the past 15 years.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Cal Poly State University in 2000, during which time he served as the President of the Muslim Students’ Association. He has been both a guest lecturer and guest instructor at several colleges and universities such as Cal Poly State , UC Davis , UC Berkeley, and Cal State East Bay.
He studied various Islamic sciences under local Bay Area scholars and has dialogued and debated with several Christian scholars on a variety of topics ranging from the historicity of the resurrection of Christ (upon whom be peace) and the Prophethood of Muhammad (upon whom be peace and blessings).
He is a graduate of the Badr Arabic Language Institute in Hadramawt, Yemen and studied at the prestigious Dar al-Mustafa under some of the most eminent scholars in the world. He holds a Masters’ Degree in Biblical Studies from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, (the first Muslim seminarian in the 143 year history of the school to do so), and is working on a PhD in Islamic Biblical Hermeneutics.

Ya Allah. Before maghrib I was listening to Br. Subbor discussing "Islam vs scientism" with Br. Eddy on The Deen Show while cooking dinner. After maghrib this khutbah was on top of YT page. Both are so related to one another. Alhamdulillah for our well read, well informed, well versed in the deen - Br. Suboor, Prof. Ataei & Br. Eddy. What a fruitful Saturday for me. Alhamdulillah

Not just for our youths, the adults need more. Most or some adults need this to return to this Deen of Allah Subhaanan wata aa Allah.
Both are required ⬇️ Faith+submission ⬇️ ⬇️ Momin+Muslim ➡️ Thoughts bear faith ➡️ Actions bear submission
Alhamdulillah we are Muslims, May Allah reward you with the best in this world and hereafter Ameen Ya Rabb. Qur’an 3:19 Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam. And those who were given the Scripture did not differ except after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. And whoever disbelieves in the verses of Allah , then indeed, Allah is swift in [taking] account.Qur'an 3:84 Say, "We have believed in Allah and in what was revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Descendants, and in what was given to Moses and Jesus and to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [submitting] to Him." Qur'an 2:255 Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.Qur'an 3:59 Indeed, the example of Jesus to Allah is like that of Adam. He created Him from dust; then He said to him, "Be," and he was. Qur'an 17:81 And say, "Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed is falsehood, [by nature], ever bound to depart." Qur'an 41:53 We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness? And in their (the earlier prophets) footsteps We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the law that had come before him. We sent him the Gospel, therein was guidance and light and confirmation of the law that had come before him, a guidance and an admonition to those who fear God. The Qur’an, 5:46 Say, ‘O mankind, the truth has come to you from your Lord, so whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] his soul, and whoever goes astray only goes astray [in violation] against it. And I am not a warder over you.’ The Qur’an, 10:108 The reward of goodness is nothing but goodness. The Qur’an, 55:61 The worshippers of the All-Merciful are they who tread gently upon the earth, and when the ignorant address them, they reply, “Peace!” The Qur’an, 25:63 In the name of God, The Supremely Merciful, The Most Kind Say: I seek refuge with The Lord and Cherisher of Mankind. The King of Mankind. The God of Mankind. From the mischief of the sneaking whisperer. Who whispers into the hearts of Mankind. From among Jinn and Mankind. The Qur'an, 114. Qur'an 2:256 There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing. TRUTH IS THE BEST!

إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ تُعْجِبُكَ أَجْسَامُهُمْ ۖ وَإِن يَقُولُواْ تَسْمَعْ لِقَوْلِهِمْ ۖ كَأَنَّهُمْ خُشُبٌ مُّسَنَّدَةٌ ۖ يَحْسَبُونَ كُلَّ صَيْحَةٍ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ هُمُ ٱلْعَدُوُّ فَٱحْذَرْهُمْ ۚ قَٰتَلَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۖ أَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ ( المنافقون:٤)

Al hamdu Lillah. Very good khutbah. Missed the meaning of critical race theory (crt), though.
Dr Ataie, is one of the foremost islamic scholars in the USA, and a personal favourite: disappointing to hear the comparison in any sense that Saudi is more honest; because slander is prohibited. A reduced, selective and limited example on a miscellany of fronts; not least because as a ruling family they are very much in line with the very minority that opposes the principles he is defending. And muslims could also align the commonalities that - true socialistic and marxist principles- hold with islamic epistemology and rights based humanism.
