Back in the 70’s the flag represented “rebel”. It’s the rebel flag of the south! No racism at all!
You right, they was representing the South and showing everybody how we do it down here
They were working class kids from Jacksonville, Fl. They 'took" their named from a gym teacher-ex-Marine at their high school (named Leonard Skinner) who told them to stop being hippies and cut their hair in the late 60s. The guitar player said "FU" to the teacher and quit school. They're now legends. That's awesome.
Southern Rock anthem. One of the best southern rock bands ever.
LOL. If you show up at a Skynyrd concert, you would be welcome; I promise. I’ve seen them. Skynyrd is my favorite. You ain’t even scratched the surface with these boys. Great reaction.
Just three months after this concert, four members of the band, including the lead singer here, and two pilots lost their lives in a plane crash. RIP guys.
they were representing their home and we didn't bow to IDENTITY POLITICS then. we were free then! we had the best music!
Led Zeppelin is good but all those rock bands from the 70’s are great. Lynard skynard got my vote though
That was a famous hat, his brother always put it on the microphone after he died, he wouldn’t play freebird for a long time because he said no one could compare to Ronnie, rip guys
That flag is one of the most beautiful flags in this country. And it's been misused as a symbol of hate when all it really is a symbol of rebellion against the Establishment & Southern Pride.
The bird sound is made using a glass slide.
74 years old and I still get chills listening to this video!😎
i love that people are still reacting to this song its deserves all the respect it can get!
i'm the one who would drag you to a Skynyrd concert and guarantee you would have the best time of your life.
You should listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd's Ballad of Curtis Loew and Tuesday's Gone.
Love your Reaction! I was 16 in 1977 Times were so different, post Vietnam, Great music Everyone Loved each other or at least Respected each other a lot more. Lynyrd Skynyrd was just very proud of their Southern Heritage nothing to do with Racism. Things were very different back then nothing like today. ( Lynyrd Skynyrd Band were from Jacksonville, Florida. )
This is an epic performance! Those guitars...doesn't get any better! Love Lynyrd Skynyrd! I like Zeppelin too...but Skynyrd gets my vote!
The rebel flag use to be everywhere. That was back before everyone was so damn offended and political about everything. I still see it from time to time. Your attitude is the right one to have.
It is fun to show this to your grandkids and they say "Wow, Wish I could've been there". Then you grin and say "I was there" and watch their faces. Yeah, Paw-Paw's cool.
Yes the studio version does have this, they do put a little extra on the ending here
