Great tutorial, thanks. Is there a way in which one can select an option in Drop down A (12 options)and have Drop Down B (30 options) & C (9 options) show only a specific range of choices. Ive got this setup on a single line, I then want to add additional lines (compromising of Drop down A,B &C) using a button to ADD the additional line if required. This will eventually create a list with multiple options, which will then be emailed as an Order Form. Is there a way in which one can build this with Caledera Forms?

Anyone out there? Help please. I’m trying to create something like a “mission statement generator” or “thesis statement generator.” With drop downs, text input, buttons, and plenty of conditionals. Hi Basem, I haven't tried putting the code into the ads plugin, but it's worth a try. If that doesn't work you'll have to add the forms to the template files in the place where you want them to appear.

Hello Bjorn! I like the new look of your videos where you make a guest appearance. Is there a way to add some CSS to the Caldera Forms to "pretty-up" the form on the website? Also, is there a way to make the received form from the website look more like the actual form, such as the two column layout? Thank You!

Hi John, I thought making a guest appearance would make it more personal. I'm still learning the whole "being on camera" aspect though. I made this video and a blog post about styling contact form 7 forms, but the same principles apply to all forms. You would just need to change the CSS selectors to have it work on a Caldera form. If you send me a link to your form I could help you determine the correct selectors. If so, you'll need to create the email using HTML tables inside the email builder field. Do you have any experience with HTML tables?

Thanks for the reply, Bjorn! I am learning both CSS and HTML a bit at a time. Currently, I haven't started using Caldera forms. I am using JotForm.com. It used to be free, but now they are charging if I add any new things. The website is a homeowners' association, so not too liberal with funding. So, I started looking at Caldera forms and will probably change in the near future. I had watched your video about the Contact Form 7 and CSS and that is why I was asking about the CSS for Caldera. I will play around with this when I install the Caldera forms on the website. Thanks for your willingness to help. I'll keep that in mind for future reference. ;-)

How to set password field in registration form?

Hi Bjorn, Great video, and great plugin. Question: we have a couple of PayPal buttons that we want on our website, but we only want to reveal them once a user has agreed to the terms and agreement. We created a required checkbox that then shows a HTML field(with the PayPal button html) once checked. This seems to work, but when the user clicks the button, it simply say ‘thank you for your submission’ and doesn’t actually go to the link that’s in the HTML of the button. Do you know a way around this? Cheers

Hi Bjorn, no sorry we do not have this is a live state. Yes we where using a conditional form, with no custom Javascript. It worked fine in theory, but when click the link/button that was revealed it didn't actually direct you to paypal, it just said "your message has been sent successfully" or something similar.

great video! but im looking for option instead of going to page 2, when you click submit it uncovers the rest of the form on the same page. And at the bottom it has aonther submit button to send the info to email/ crm.

Probably the easiest way to create the submit button that uncovers the rest of the form is by using jQuery toggle. How are planning on sending the info to your CRM? CF7 doesn't integrate natively with anything. But you can use another plugin to add contacts to Mailchimp. But Mailchimp isn't really a CRM.

Great tutorials Bjorn. Thank you. I created a custom form using Caldera (free version). It's a list with checkboxes that I pre-populated using taxonomies. It created the list perfectly. Only problem is the list is all one column and way too long. Ideally, I'd like the list of items to spread over 2-3 columns. Any idea if this can be done with the free version? I want to insert the form into a page template using shortcode. Maybe it can be accomplished with some css or perhaps there is an even easier way to spread the list over multiple columns. Thanks in advance if you're able to help. Appreciate all of your tutorials. I've learned a lot.

Hi Bruce, Good work getting your form nearly where you want it! Breaking up a single list of checkboxes into multiple columns can be tricky but it can be done. The easiest way, if it's an option for you, is to have 2 or 3 different checklists and put those into the column. Which is should be possible in the free version. If that's not an option, you may be able to use nth-child selectors in CSS to pick groups of checkboxes, assuming their in an ordered or unordered list. Then use floats to separate them into columns. Does that make sense?

Hi Basem, If you mean a dropdown menu that lists all countries and the visitor selects one, then the answer is "it depends." If you have a basic form builder then you have to add a dropdown and manually enter all the country names as options (you can get a list from places like Wikipedia). If you have a higher-end form builder like Gravity Froms, they have all of the countries built in. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

I would like to set up a conditional search form, something similar to "country-state-city" without a complete database but using only conditions I want. I already made a part of it ( you can see it live here epromotion.it/ricerca-2/) but I need a button that show me the search results and don't send anything. The conditions are categories. HI. I am trying to set up the option for choosing "Date of Birth"... This will require 3 drop downs together. Day. Month. Year. I do not see this option in the field choices. Do you have an idea how I can do this?

Hi Lisa, Good question. That type of functionality depends on the plugin you're using to create the form. Most of the free form builders don't have Day, Month, Year (nor Country, State, City, etc.) because it's too much work for the developer. So having those things built into form builders is almost exclusively in the paid-for plugins. That said, instead of using drop downs for those options, could you just have three fields side-by-side for day/month/year that the visitors fills in?

This form is great! However, am a little confused and need some help. I am creating an online order form. I have a drop down of categories. But I only want the sub-categories to show also in a drop down when someone chooses a category. How to do that?

+Azeem Haq Hi Azeem, the easiest method with contact form 7 would be to have conditonal drop downs appear only when a specific choice is made in the main drop down. Can I limit the amount of entries per field? With that said: I will give an explanation. A registration form for an event. This event has multiple breakout sessions. Each session can have only, let's say, 10 registrations in total. After the maximum number of registrations has been reached, that particular breakout session has to be closed for further registrations. At the moment the Caldera forms can only calculate the that numer per registration, but then start all over for the next visitor. So, in any way: there has to come some sort of feedback loop to the calculation element, that there are already registrations being recieved. A ind of count down function. I can use in the calculation field the simple manual calculation code: 10-%calculation% . The calculation will be made on the front end. But refreshing the page......you guessed. Starting from scratch. Hope you know a trick

Hey. Great video... Do you know if it is possible to make a button link to a chosen page? I'm thinking about a complex tree that would mean that a set of answers on page 1 might mean that you skip page 2 and go to page 3.

Hi Will, Branching forms are possible, but difficult with this setup. You would likely need to have some custom JavaScript to detect the right circumstances and then update the destination of the buttons appropriately. A premium plugin like Gravity Forms can do this without any custom code, but there's an annual fee involved.

I am trying to do the following I am trying to set up a condition to if "DROP DOWN MENU A" is "I ACCEPT" and if "DROP DOWN MENU B" is “LOCATION 1” I would like “LOCATION 1” to disappear from DROP DOWN MENU B, so the next person coming to the site does not see that option anymore. How do I do this using the free caldera forms?

Hi Ben, I don't think you can do that with free or the paid Caldera forms. In fact, I haven't seen any form builders that would remove options for future visitors. I think you would need to custom code a solution for this.

Hi Mausam, You can validate using Javascript/jQuery. You may also be able to do it using this plugin: en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/jquery-validation-for-contact-form-7/ I haven't tried that plugin before, but I'll make a tutorial on it.

Hey Shane, good question. Unfortunately, the answer is you don't using the free date pickers like Caldera forms or the Contact Form 7 add-ons. I've only ever seen date blocking ability in premium services like Acuity Scheduling (acuityscheduling.com/) or Calendly (calendly.com/). Both of those options let you block specific days. They also sync with Google calendar, so if you have an appointment scheduled in Google calendar, that time slot will not be available for booking. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

+Minelsa Del Rosario I've only seen that option in a premium form builder called Gravity Forms. But it should be in some of the free builders as well. Have you checked all the options in the Caldera forms plugin?

Hi Minelsa, here's how you do it: Add a field > Under 'Select' tab choose 'Dropdown select' > scroll down to the bottom of 'Field type' (right-side bar) > click on 'Bulk Insert/Preset' > click on 'Select a preset' > choose 'Countries (names only)' > that's it! Cheers!

Hi Gavin, I haven't tested that with this plugin and Google wasn't very helpful. So this plugin may not be able to do it. If that is the case, then you'll need to use JavaScript or with a simple CSS trick ( content.pivotal.io/blog/showing-and-hiding-conditional-html-without-javascript ) You may also want to consider using a radio button instead of a checkbox since someone could select Yes AND No if it's a checkbox. But radio buttons they can only select Yes OR No. There ways around that checkbox functionality, but out of the box radio buttons would be better in this case. Hello Thanks for sharing. Want to ask a question. I want to create conditions in three dropdowns. If user select an option from 1st dropdown, He will see list of items related to 1st dropdown's selected option in 2nd dropdown, and when he select an option from 2nd dropdown, he will see in dropdown 3 related items of 2nd dropdown selected option. Before selecting an option from 1st drop, 2nd and 3rd dropdown should disable or hide, and 3rd drop should hide/disable before selecting and option from 2nd dropdown. Please help me to create such conditions. Thanks

That's definitely possible and you can do it using nested conditions. A lot of nested conditions in your case. A nest condition is when you have a condition inside of a condition.

+Edgar Andres Zorrilla Yeah, that could be a lot of things. Does that error appear when you put an email address in that field the form builder rather than a variable? +Edgar Andres Zorrilla Oh ok, I was just suggesting the email confirmation for layer when the form works and you have college students filling out the form. You'd probably want the form to not send if the email has a typo or something.
