No matter how un-eco friendly she would appear now, losing her from the skies is a travesty. Concorde was beautiful and everybody knew it by sight & sound - I miss seeing her over my home daily plying the routes across the pond! A true Anglo-French miracle

I worked in the Stress Office at Filton, on Concorde. When the UK prototype took off on its first flight everyone rushed over to the office windows overlooking the runway. The Personnel Manager came over and started shouting, "Back to your seats", "I'm taking names". That's Personnel Managers for you!

During the construction of the M25 (yes there was a time when that traffic was somewhere else) our site offices were near the end of the Heathrow runway. We used to pause the meeting to watch it head off to New York. Noise wasn’t an issue, it seemed no louder than the other jet aircraft. It was just the sheer grace and beauty that stopped our work for a few seconds before we returned to discussing mud and concrete. Concorde is sadly missed.

Are you out of your cotton pickin mind? On occasion I watched the Concord take off from Kennedy, it made at least twice the noise of a regular jet. Lots of black smoke too. It was a huge white elephant. It used up 5 times the fuel and saved you only three hours.

Not how that works particularly. We absolutely could build supersonic airlines again, there just isn’t much point. They aren’t the most commercially viable of aircraft. Airlines are made for fuel efficiency, which is a good idea generally speaking. The Concorde for example was very inefficient below its optimum speed, and due to many countries having a ban on overland supersonic flight, you can see the issues. Also generally speaking regular airliners flying at “only” Mach 0.8-0.9, are cheaper to fly on, operate and are generally more comfortable, and likely more environmental as well. The Concorde was brilliant though, very nice looking aeroplane.

My mum flew on Concorde in the nineties, from Leeds Bradford Airport to Luton. It was a special flight. She said it was fabulous. We used to stand on the hill at the back of Leeds/Bradford airport and watch Concorde land and take off when ever it came. We will never see its like again. Great video thank you.

I grew up at a distance with the bird of beauty. When i was a schoolboy living in Cornwall, I use to hear the booms as she went super sonic heading to the USA and Later on when i was in the RAF based near London, we use to pause our volleyball game to watch her coming into land at Heathrow a few miles away. Even at a distance we could tell it was her. And later while visiting The Tower of London for the day off in the distance i got to see all 3 Concode's coming into land for the last time.

Big thanks to the late #TonyBenn who championed this plane through out its complete life span, from concept until its retirement. Just imagine what we could achieve with that sort of co-operative thinking and doing - the Americans might’ve landed on the moon, but we would’ve offered package holidays to it!

That was such a beautiful aircraft but oh boy so LOUD, There was a time I occasionally attended court in Reading to support the clients of the charity I worked for. Reading was on the direct flight path from Heathrow to the Atlantic. The clerk would say to us, "At around 11 o'clock Concorde goes over. You will not be able to make yourself heard for the noise so don't even try!" It was true. Where I live is very close to Farnborough, the home of the famous air show. We were in the garden one day when there was this huge roar and one of the Concorde prototypes zoomed over from the east before curving round to go back the the airfield. It was really low and just amazing. Not going very fast, not aiming for supersonic speeds it what can only have been a flight of a few minutes. Magical.

So, I grew up in Caracas and years ago my parents had some friends who live right next door to the international airport in Maiquetia. Next to the fence across the runway. We once went to visit them and I kept hearing all these airplanes flying to land at the airport so I asked for permission to climb the stairs to the house's roof to see this happening. A few minutes after I got there I hear this roar coming from out of nowhere and this little dot in the sky became bigger by the second when I realized it was the Concorde, it flew so close over me I thought I could touch it! An absolutely magical experience.

The Concord was an epic aeroplane, otwithstanding the environmental impacts of such high performance technology. I was about 10years old, when Dad took the family to Kingsford Smith Airport,to watch the arrival of the first Concord to come to Australia. Very, very loud, along with tremendous dark plumes of exhaust on the take-off. Such was life in the early 1970's,blissfully ignorant of the damage to the environment air travel is. Thanks for the upload, a slice of nostalgia 👍😊

A beautiful bird. The only airplane that people would stop and watch. Phil Collins flew to USA on one at Live Aid, it flew over Wembley Stadium to the cheers from that huge crowd. Oddly enough, it was tiny inside by comparison to other contemporary aircraft and window seats were not for those of a large stature! I was fortunate to be given official access to a 'few' Concordes at Heathrow one Sunday morning. Although I never flew in one, I have sat in a pilot's seat! What amazed me most was how much the structure moved around while walking inside it. I wouldn't say it bounced, but it was certainly not like standing on solid ground! Marvelous aircraft, sadly missed by many.

Probably going somewhere around 220+mph when it first gets airborne. The acceleration with those afterburners is very impressive and the acceleration isn't linear meaning the faster it goes the faster the rate of acceleration increases.
