Yes! If you look the Mamamoo song credits, Solar has written and composed SO MUCH! So has Hwasa. Moonie does mostly raps but other stuff and actual songs too and also so many choreos! Wheepup also does a lot of stuff and is the backbone of the group. This group is like no one else. They write and compose their own songs, they do their own choreos, pick their outfits, do their make ups and hair(now they have a stylist I thing but in the beginning they couldn't afford one), and make succestions about the MVs. They do everything themselves. Stan talent, stan Mama mama moooooo!

I think what makes Mamamoo artists for me (in addition to all the things listed in this video) is how they stay rooted in their priorities and values, which are to create good quality music and connect with their audience and fans. They never intended to be a cookie cutter girl group, never focused on the superficial qualities that the industry pushes (unless they had to for business purposes, which is completely understandable), and never wanted people to pay attention to them just for the sake of receiving attention. They respect and understand music as an art--something that I find is getting rarer and rarer. Incidentally, they also seem to understand what kind of responsibility they have as public figures and are choosing to go about it in positive ways. Again, a very rare quality I'm finding these days.

One thing that i disagree is that from their debut, mamamoo has never labeled themselves as idols. Kim dohoon's vision for mamamoo is artists, not idols. Everything about them spells artists cuz that's what they are. It's a different market offering, targeting a different audience, which is why moomoos are so unique. Stan artists stan mamamoo

@@niqmal89 Yes Idols are artists, but the difference is their public approach as well as media approach. Where Mamamoo, do all the work themselves. Where Idol groups their companies do most of the work for them, there is only a few artists within idol groups; which Mamamoo is not, because they do not pose themselves as such.

In addition, even tho wheein doesn't participate much in the group's musical composition, she does still contribute in the production by working with the producers in making Demos/Guides for almost all of their songs. Another thing is that all of the girls really have a say with their styling and stage outfits, that's why you could really see their individualoty just from their clothes!

This is so beautiful and really proves how amazing and talented these women are. It hurts me that they are not really recognized internationally but as time goes by I'm kinda accept that Moomoo fandom are not streamers, we appreciate and hype them in our own way and for me, this love and bond is more genuine and will last longer. Seasoned artists respect and acknowledge Mamamoo as their equal and in some cases as better than them. That's the true way to know Mamamoo are artists and next level idols.

Mamamoo has my whole damn heart. I’m one of those people who never cared for Kpop group boy or girl but I love me a kpop solo artist. But something about Mamamoo is different, and your right, their not idols they artists, performers and so much more and can’t wait for the rest of the world to stop sleeping on talent and have my girls get the love and appreciation they rightful deserve.

I swear Moonbyul has a talent for writing! Her lyrics are spot on.

One of the real kickers for me that proves how talented these girls are is how many other artists/musicians want to work with them. As an example, Roy Orbison wasn't nearly as popular with the general public as some other big name rock stars, but every musician in the business wanted to work with Roy Orbison. That's how you know who the really first rate musicians are, and it's true of Mamamoo. Talent recognizes talent. Hell, JYP is a fan, and how many groups that aren't JYP groups can say that?

I only started stanning them after the Gogobebe comeback, so I have a lot to learn. My love for them as artists and people grows everyday. Thx for the video😁 I regret not knowing of them sooner

All moomoos knew but it’s still what we needed

i think the people behind almost all mamamoo songs i.e. Kim do hoon, Park woo sang, Cosmic Sound... (if you look closely at the composers/producers etc there is a trend) are really kings/queens of all styles and they produce such good songs for the girls. It's clear they have a good working relationship with the girls as well since all their songs suit mamamoo well and almost always have mamamoo's input one way or another. Really hope this collab continues!!

I hope so too, as RBW and Mamamoo have such a great relationship. There is a lot of speculation as their contract is up for renewal in 2021. The members have said they haven't come to a decision. But hints they've been dropping leads me to believe they want to spread their wings, now that they are entering their late 20s and early 30s, and are starting to look to the future (marriage and kids etc).

What I love about them is that they are 4 great soloists but also an awesome group that goes so well together

I'm very agree with the list, but I just want to give a shout-out for the adlibs in Mamamoo performances, one instance like the Blue Dragon Awards even "revived" Decalcomanie to be able staying in charts for almost a whole year. Ugh, their power is so magnificent..

What made me love Mamamoo in the first place is how expressive they are while performing. They feel the music they're singing. They're not afraid to show their weird and silly side. i think the reason why mamamoo has such ethereal vocals while performing is that they might have trained for vocals more importantly than dance. these days a lot of idol groups are focused on hard choreo and i know mamamoo doesn't have super hard choreo but their vocals will still be a lot more stable than a lot of idol groups even if they had hard chore. p.s. i don't mean to offend anyone by saying that a lot of idol groups aren't stable. i think that hard or energetic choreo is what restricts some of them from sounding stable so I believe vocal training should be more inclusive of hard dances for them to sound better. also english is not my first language so please don't judge my errors.

You're 100% correct. RBW's CEO is a music producer, and was first and foremost looking for vocals. He co-writes some of their tracks, and personally oversees concert rehearsals. Musicality is all to him, and as a result we have the vocal powerhouse that is Mamamoo.

Unfortunately RBW is a smaller label, and lacks the financial resources and global ambitions of, say Blackpink's YG. No reflection on Mamamoo's talent. They deserve the world (literally). But that's just how it is.

As much as I agree with you (Mamamoo are artists and the ONLY gg ever), some of the points you used aren’t valid. Being amazing singers and actively participating on the creative process of their music doesn’t make Mamamoo artists. I mean everyone can do that. Versatility and going all the way in their shows is a good sign because it means they are willing to grow, however that doesn’t automatically make them artists either. What makes Mamamoo artists? Their ability to move the public with their performance, their unique way to interpret their songs. Art is about saying something without words. And their performance excels in that field. Also if we analyze their lyrics we can see bits of that artistry as well.

first of all, thank you for such a well-made video. I've never enjoyed a lengthy video so much I wish it was even longer. also, ive never seen some of these contents & theyre absolute gold??? ah mamamoo..tbh even if we were to label them as idols, they have their own special place in the industry that sets them apart from others from the get go. the effort and creativity that they put in their songs & performances are admirable. ntm being one of the most entertaining groups to see. one thing that truly made me respect them & their label is how everyone gets a chance to show their full potential as artists,no one is left behind or overshadowed as is always the case in idol groups ie integrating more of moonbyul in the singing part instead of just going the safe way and making her stay as a rapper. you can tell they're not afraid to take risks to stay new and refreshing. now that is a true definition of an artist. all of these qualities will definitely contribute to their longevity as a group. go mamamoo!
