3 minutes... that’s one of the rules in ESC. No song is allowed to take a longer time. But it’s enough time for a perfect song and performance. And she won.
Conchita is rightly considered one of the 'great' Eurovision winners. Not only did she perform this song with all her heart, but Conchita's historic win, as a bearded drag-queen & (as Tom, the man behind Conchita's persona) a gay man, this song meant an awful lot too so many across Europe!
I am from Austria and a huge ESC Fan! She won that contest - with such a strong, important, revolutionary message and performance. Before the esc took place that year lot of people in austria damned her, she was the „absurd enemy to be ashamed of“ performing for our country. I was ashamed of our country!!! But Tom and his alter ego conchita never gave up talking friendly and „fighting“ prejudices with an open mind, smile and ear. That’s was unbelievable brave and admirable. I will never forget the moment when she won and me crying ♥️ Chonchita thanks for your victory - for music, acceptance and humanity
So proud of my kids when Conchita competed. They did´nt even rise an eyebrow, they just thought that Conchita was good. And referred to her as they. Taught to them by their friends, not me! And they were 7-9 years.

Very Bond,yes. I remember this final and I was screaming out of joy really, because the right song won and that because prejudice wasn't present at all that night.

If I remember clearly, Conchita chose this song out of over 100 songs to that songwriters provided for her and her decision to go with this incredible song was absolutely on point😊
still goosebumps watching even after all those years. Actually that years runners up, the Netherlands, are very much worth having a go. It's was not considered to be successful and ended up 2nd. why, because it was a special memorable performance, good vocals and and a very special atmosphere created, good camera work on stage. So again, the grand final live performance is the one.
Saw Conchita last year in Gran Canaria Pride - and incredible voice
Amazing reaction. So much fun to watch. It's actually Eurovision regulation that the songs cannot be longer than 3 minutes, which is why most of them clock in at exactly 3.00 minutes. Btw don't listen too much to people complaining about all those little things.

Exactly. A lot of people claimed Conchita won because of the "bearded lady" gimmick, but that song is a workout to sing.
Have seen Conchita perform 3 times here in Australia and their voice is phenomenal. Met them once and they were so welcoming and lovely. I agree with your comment on sounding very Bond-like
So glad you are checking out the Eurovision Song Contest. It has a welth of amazing perfomances. Other good ones are Lorens - Eurphoria (Sweden) and Mans Zamelow - Heros (Sweden), Emile de Forrest - Only Teardrops (Denmark), Secret Garden - Nocturne (Norway) and Alexzander Rybak - Fairytale (Norway). All were winners of their years

ESC is probably the biggest music event in the world (and Fun Fact : it has more viewers Worldwide than the Super Bowl ^^) and yes within only 3 min as it is the rule it can bring lots of Jewels like this song !!! I always thaught it has a James Bond theme vibe within it ... You should react to ESC Winner 1988 ... Céline Dion for Switzerland with "Ne partez pas sans moi".
Monday Niagara Tuesday Loic and Wednesday Conchita, I got all my Christmas presents before Christmas eve, tysm! One or two weeks after Conchita won Eurovision I went to Vienna (it was planned before) and Conchita performed there outdoor live for free because she was so grateful. A great experience..

Great song and vocals .The Eurovision song festival has brought us a lot of great artists. Celine Dion , Lara Fabian, ABBA etc . Used to watch it religiously. I wish it would be on American TV
Always loved this song,there was not enough recognition after eurovision because she was a drag.I was realy dissapointed because off that .Now he sings under his own name!

Yess! And also her opening at the Austrian Amadeus Award she did 2018. It's a mashup of several auatrian songs and it really shows how much control over her voice she has with making her voice sound diffrently and singing diffrent types of songs😍😍
Eurovision Song Contest is such an event in Europe ❤️ Conchita won the award 🥇 next contest in may 2021 🤞🏻 France did not win since 1977 😭😅 41 countries 26 at the finale present a 3 minutes song then each country has a jury of professional who give the first points and then people from every country give their points... in 2019, 182 million people watched the show ... huge

Hi Dereck! I remember when she won in 2014 Eurovision Songs Contest. The same year, her name was the most serarched on internet!
