It’s basically our bands tradition to play this every year in our top band, takes a little bit for the first years of the band to learn but it’s so fun and always gives me chills.

trinity mchellen my director is the same way at our high school it's a tradition to play the polar express but ever since she came here she won't let us play it. This year she is letting one of the middl school bands play it and everyone is mad

Our flutes are doing incredible on this piece! It made me cry today when we were playing it. I play percussion and im on the hi hat during the polar express part
It is my tradition with my band to play this every year. As a band director, every single time I hear this piece, it almost brings tears to my eyes because of how beautiful this song was orchestrated
Yo I played 1st Trumpet in this today and I almost overdosed on dopamine
This movie has a special place in my heart and I am very glad I was able to play this piece in my school wind band.

those aren't even just 1st flutes, but the best part is they're the easiest runs in the whole piece
I remember playing this back in 9th Grade Concert Band. That was my Band Teachers (an alumni from the school) first year teaching. We only had 27 musicals in 9th Grade Concert Band that year. I was one of only four trumpets. I remember playing the second trumpet part. And now I’m going to graduate school to become a music teacher.

I'm pretty sure this was made on a computer. If it was recorded then it would sound so much more choppy. Especially when they got loud.

I played alto clarinet on this one. Props to the arranger for using the alto clarinet in such a relatively recent piece.

We tried to play this in our winter concert last year and couldn’t get it together in time so we’re just trying it again this year, lmao. It’s sounding much better the second time around, and it’s soooo much fun to play. I was heartbroken when it got cut last year so I’m glad I could convince our director to give it another shot!
i remember we played this around christmas when i was a freshman and i loved it. (even though i was last chair flute and still didn’t know what i was doing after 4 years. 6th grade to 9th) this will always be my favorite.
We played this at my school, but I didn’t get to play because right as I went up on stage my Bari sax stopped working- that’s what I get for using school owned instruments :,)

The pain. This happened to me during Marching band instead tho. I was no longer able to play low B flat or Low A because my Bari Decided to get a random leak. (I ended up fixing it but now when I let go of the E flat key, the pad doesn’t open completely but It’s as good as it’s gonna get)

Euphonium is usually not fun and you barely get any good parts. This piece is so fun to play that I got excited every time doing the runs around the end. So sick!

My community band played this arrangement a few years ago. I'm pretty sure I played the tenor sax part then. We're playing it again this year, and I'm playing oboe part this time. I always loved this arrangement! I always get excited when we get to play it.

Fr man. That G on the 16th notes are a pain in the butt...
I can hear and feel those trumpets struggling with the high D at particular points in the song. That hits me where it hurts bro.

Very “exciting, invigorating” trombone part, but I still love it.
My band just had to play this and my fingers were moving as fast as they possibly could on my clarinet when we got to the fast part. So many accidentals 😭

Brooke Himes It’s difficult for anyone. One of the hardest I’ve played, but I think it’s fun. You’ll get it eventually. And when you do, you’ll enjoy it. I play the 1st alto sax part, and I like when Christmas comes to town best.

Haha I have to play the whole percussion two part because there isn't enough percussionists and it's one of the hardest things I've done XD
All the other percussionists took the best parts so I just get to play the tambourine and triangle. Wonderful...
