That's my theory too. For one, he didn't have to leave the east coast, for two, Colbert probably offered him more money than TBS could even fathom, and third, his actual output is way less, making tiny videos that aren't really all that inspired anymore. But it's ok, Stack did the right thing for himself and his family, except maybe, if he would return to Conan's HBO variety show, he could make even MORE money.

(Al Franken) "Why, Conan... Why?? Lmao
At first i was like those jokes were horrible but it was part of the sketch 🤣
N-B-See you in the Big House, Audience!
I’ve never seen this before! This is hysterical.
Hilarious. One of my favorite bits. Even the judge could not keep a straight face.
This was incredible!
The Lawyer KZreadr,Legal Eagle Should Feature This on His Channel,Not to Review it,I Just Wanna See How Funny he Finds it
great sketch
I wanted to see more of the addresses lol
I wish I knew how good this show was in 2003, found out 15 years later -_-

Not only this show, but as a writer, Conan was almost solely responsible for the Simpsons actually being funny for their first 5 years of existence, and for Saturday Night Live actually being funny in the 80s before he left for the Simpsons gig.
writers are great.
This might be one of the best skits I’ve ever seen on the show, wow
Was this a parody of Jay lenos headlines?
This is one of Conans greatest skits.
What a great sketch!
My god I remember watching this live the day of. Unbelievable. Feels like it was just yesterday.
I love this bit so much this is something mr show would do
Mr. O’Brien promised something amusing, and he threw to a Rosie O’Donnell joke. I move that he be held in contempt of court
Best of late night
I love this. It reminds me of the odd Red Skelton sketches.
Genius level stuff.
This is why Conan is King❤
Only Conan would do stuff like this
I didn't expect rosie o'Donnell hahaha. But that made me so happy!
How many times to wring out a laugh from terrible jokes is why this is funny. He literally tried the audience.
The Franken guy could be a Senator!
Conan's audience was better disciplined back in the day. When he did the "Fig Newton" joke and needed crickets, the audience laughed. Al Franken was great! Laughed to see Conan's expression warning him to say the joke was funny, and then his resentful-captured-Scooby-doo-villain face when Al cried out, "Why, Conan? Why?" Thanks for uploading this!
damn you with the rossie o donel bit LOL
Brilliant!!
Dang, I’m a huge MJ fan, that was cold lol
The judge's facial expression is very funny, especially at 6:40.
First time I've seen Conan almost break during a sketch
If Jimmy Fallon did this he'd change his Late Night show to a Court Room Drama.
What’s funny is that the celebrity addresses piece had the framework of a Leno bit. Zing!
WHY CONAN, WHY? Can we please fix the mans chair!?
it's brian stack!! god i miss him! wish colbert would return him to conan!

Colbert probably pays like 10x. It's on a network.

That's my theory too. For one, he didn't have to leave the east coast, for two, Colbert probably offered him more money than TBS could even fathom, and third, his actual output is way less, making tiny videos that aren't really all that inspired anymore. But it's ok, Stack did the right thing for himself and his family, except maybe, if he would return to Conan's HBO variety show, he could make even MORE money.
oh no conan
What is a phone book?
The only time that explaining the joke was funnier than than the actual joke.
Al Franken was also forced out of the congress and destroyed his career..
I remember seeing that Hulk movie in theaters with my father abd brother as a kid. Man, seems not that long ago.

I thought this was a phenomenal bit. Fatty Town. Makes me laugh.
I LOVE THE FACT THAT THE CLOSER WAS A+.....ONE GOOD JOKE TO CLOSE IT OUT IS ALL THAT WAS NEEDED TO RECTIFY THINGS...LOL
i kinda recognized the lawyer, one of the writers maybe, have u seen the conan tattoo removal sketch? yes the same guy
Oh....hey....he works for Colbert now... I'm talking about the audience lawyer...
W.O.W. Brilliant.
Does anyone know if the guy playing the foreman of the jury is Simon Helberg?
Pretty big build up Just to laugh at Rosie Well worth it

lion of the senate.
I miss jokes like these where comedians can just go wild. Sky is the limit. Now you can only get away with these when youre doing standup, but even when in there, people still get offended.
is this sketch something the show did often? i've never seen or heard of it before, and the audience sure seemed to love it
