Compulsive Purchases, Solving Crazy Carburetor Mysteries, And The Death Kart Calls Us Out

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Facebook Marketplace strikes again and we end up with yet another Jeep XJ we couldn't refuse, and in the meantime our post race inspection of Slaghammer's 383 reveals a sneaky little problem that's plagued us from the beginning.
Also, we change directions slightly with our vintage Gasser and Dr. Art seeks to extract revenge against the tiny little minibike that tried to kill him twice with an 1800 amp electric death kart.

I had small noises that escalated into full-on airplane takeoff. I had replaced my wheel bearing assemblies, for the driver's side being worn, and a huge difference in noise was noticed but still was having a noise, so I replaced the CV axles, still having a noise. Figured it out last night. The new driver's side bearing was completely shot. I swapped the shot one with the used (OEM 140k miles on it) passengers side I had lying on the shelf. Gives me a few miles while I'm waiting on another bearing. The road silence on the test drive was blissful, now you can hear the person next to you, the radio, or even your own thoughts. lol

Sierra Auctions offloads the cheap, police-siezed, and repoed, Just don't be a dumb a**, bring a scanner when you go to look at the cars. It will have to pass emissions for it to be registered in AZ. Buy one from the runners auction, preferably with no check engine light. But like I said, bring a scanner and go get into something you can afford! I have had hit and miss luck for my family vehicles, but I've learned auto repair for cheap, and the success story goes like this. I bid $1600 on a '99 Olds Alero 2.4 with 69k on the odometer with emissions ready in 2016. Now it has 149k on it, and I've done everything to it short of rebuilding/ replacing the engine/ trans. (Not including tools) Overall less than $4000 including tires and maintenance (Supertech Full-Syn every 3k, 2021 alternator, fuel pump has been replaced twice with filters, did the timing set/water pump at 135k, cv axles and front and rear bearings and Shocks/coils, pow-steer pump and rack plus tie-rods, ball joints and control arms at 140k) and still chugging strong. Put a trailer hitch on it when I bought it, and have towed a small trailer while moving all around the country with it. lol

It sounds kind of labored off the line, like it lugs down a little bit. The engine revs quick like you want in the burnout, but seems to be lugging @ launch. I think your combo has what it takes to get into the mid 7s in the 1/8th - just need o keep flogging away!!

14:00 whenever i drill a jet i always file the numbers off it so im forced to check it before i decide whether i want it or not. right now my webers run blank air and main jets that are equal to 200 and 115

Love the Slagger. I would just keep the 383 , it looks good , yes the stance , sounds sweet , but maybe some gearing play , but love it as is.

put the 451 in the dart that slaghammer 383 is gonna go low 7s all day if you change the intake and go with a single 750-950 cfm the heads are built for low end with a tunnel ram built for hi rpm that tunnel ram belongs on the 451 , that old school metal window screen between the intake and heads to atomize fuel better would probably help a bit too

1800 Amps x 36 Volts is 64,800 Watts, divided by 750 W ( 1 Hp ) is 86 Hp, if he can get traction and not end up in a ditch he's going to smoke the mini bike Tony.

guess we have to check our jets. Someone was on a budget that day.. Do a dual tunnelram propane 383. Should give you 900 CFM wide open. or you could try fuel injection, see if there is enough heat to gassify the propane(propane boils at --40). Cheers from Calgary.

Is that yellow thing a Dodge Kary Van? I have a '79 in my driveway. It's had the first 4' of the box converted into passenger space (think nice crew cab) and the box is now a sealed, 10' cargo area. Great for vike/cart racing, camping, traveling to car show/races, etc.. 😊 And the cab has a Dodge camp/van roof mod with a penta-star skylight for extra head room! 😊

Mix up a batch of 1/2gas +1/2 E85+, 1oz. Lacquer thinner per tank. That will give it one more Hp easy.

Well without your self diagnosis, you wouldn’t have been able to build Slaghammer for the price you did or the way you wanted! All hail the hoarder! Long live the “I have no use for this” buyer😁😊

Drilling out a jet? I didn't know that was a thing. As a layman I like to think I would have tried to scratch off the number. I would wouldn't eat yoghurt from that guy's fridge - it might be paint.
