    Good Infomation...My Dive Buddy is an Instructor and has His own compressor. When He comes to visit He'll bring Me exchange tanks. He told me about how the filters work and like You, knows what He's talking about.I don't think alot of actually know what all it takes to go diving.

    absolutely right. Another main source of noxious components in the compressed air stream is the compressor itself, any mechanical oil lubricated machine will finish to lose its oil, in the particular case of a compressor, the lubrication of the cylinders and the rings ends by the lost of some oil, that oil enters in the air stream and is compressed as a mixture in the following stages. on such a high pressure compressors, in the final stages, that oil acts as fuel and ignites causing combustion gases that is saaociated to carbon monoxyde and dioxyde plus unburned and vaporized oil that produces odors. it is a main reason why, on a breathing air compressor, it is imperative to use oil specifically formulated ( esters based ) for that application. As for any compressor, colder are the water separation stages, better is the result. excellent topic very good video ( as usual !!! )

    Had a buddy get out of the water before a dive to re fit his CCR. Did it in the parking lot next to a running diesel truck and didn’t think anything of it…..until he’s 200 feet back in a cave and getting tunnel vision. I’m not a CCR diver but I believe he was getting bubbles and went to fix his BOV before the dive.

    Thanks for this very interesting explanation of comp-filter… about the Analysis Report that said CO is less than 0,5… does it mean there is still co in our tanks, but it in a safe level for breathing

  • @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter

    @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes. It’s near impossible to remove 100% of any harmful substance but testing standards have agreed on safe levels. Only by getting air tested is a LDS sure their air is safe. A

    Often when the result says less than X ammount, it is because the test equipment can't measure an ammount below the specified value. Rather than say somethig ambiguous like undetectable, they say less than the limit amount because as alec said the value will never be 0 but they are unable to measure such a small ammount.

    In my garage I have a Shop Compressor. Fills to 150 psi. The air coming out of the Twin Cylinder pump will Burn you. They use a Copper Tube from the Pump to the Tank. Manual drain for Water on the bottom. And a Water/Air Separator on the Output side. I can only imagine how Hot the air comes out of a 4k Psi compressor.

  • @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter

    Just as hot as a big one. There is little space to cool anything down which makes small ones more sensitive to changes and more maintenance in my view. A

    That is something very specific and which I don't have access to a shop that does manual refills. All the stores I have visited use replaceable cartridges. Sorry but not able to show that. A

    Looking at a old hooka it looks to be a strait compressor running on a float with a water trap so is this more dangerous I see a lot of people use them on their boats? what do you know about dagar rays? they seem to be between scuba and rebreathers

  • @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter

    @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter

    Not familiar with CCR''s like Dagar as they are evolving quickly to be safer and easier to maintain. Hooka floats come in many styles but are gas or electric powered. Like anything involving breathing underwater, know your gear and be safe is key. A
