Great info as always. A beautiful look at the physical and electronic overlaid. I learned first hand, from working on the Ford/Mazda 2.0/2.3/2.5 keyless crankshaft engines, that the electronic data can indeed be misleading. The crankshaft can in fact be out of time even though the electronic data says that all is well. Tricky! Thanks for this great series!

Ah yes, that keyless design is genius...meh. Using a "diamond washer", rather than a woodruff key or the like must cost the maker just a little less to produce. Less machining certainly.

Great info. Can you please change your smoke detector battery. Every time it goes off my dog starts shaking.

I've been doing the same thing! Driving me nuts! I went around the house and listened for mine going off.

Good video. BTW. Does your smoke detector need a new battery? (annoying chirp, chirp, chirp)?

Having known good waveforms is critical. If a tone ring slips on a crankshaft, you can overlay a running compression waveform on a crank sensor waveform and still have no idea what's going on. With a known good waveform, a fault can be easily identified.
