Compound Interest Explained UK (£300/month to £2.5million)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
A compound interest explained simply for people in the UK video is something I wanted to do for a while. This will hopefully show people the power of compound interest and how it builds your wealth over the long term. Whether you're using robinhood, webull, freetrade, stake or trading212. They all have the ability for you to invest even if you are a beginner and start building wealth. How to build wealth with low risk is something many people want to know about and that is what I aim to achieve here on the Profit Boss channel.

Great Video, Chris. Never even considered investing as I always assumed I'd be better off overpaying the mortgage. So glad I've seen this. Will be moving house within the year, so will be getting on this once the move is done. I'm currently piling in to matched betting and overtime at work, etc, to stockpile a nice lump sum to put towards the next house (planning to upgrade to a detached). Would love to see some videos on extra earners that can turn around a good profit within the next few months as well, to really add to that lump sum before the mortgage application .

Videos like this didn't exist when I was 19, investing was something 'posh' people did 😕 You also had to be lucky enough to know someone who actively invested and would teach you! BUT, most regular working people wouldn't know someone to teach them and wealthy friends always kept their money making secrets to themselves! Yes, I'm investing now, thanks to channels like this (thank you 👍), but it's so galling to confirm that had I known 'how to' years ago (when I was 19 and wanted to but didn't know where to start), I'd be quite rich now! Ugh!! Saying that, thanks for the vids, keep up the good work! 🙂👏
Wow, what an eye-opener!
Hi Chris, If I invest a large amount of money and then add to that a little bit each month will that affect the compound interest? Is it better to just leave it at a set amount? Many Thanks

I got started with this back in February and honestly it's insane. Already I'm getting around £100/month back in interest and I really didn't put that much into it. I could only afford £100 a month along with my initial large deposit so I started with that. Its better to start with whatever you can afford than saying you can't afford more and it's pointless to do it. You can always add more to it when you are earning more and as a student I don't have as much time rn. But yeah, great video and great ethos. Start small with whatever you can afford and build it up over time. Make your money work for you rather than you working for your money!

Thank you for the video mate. My question is you are using examples of bank accounts that provide a 10% yearly interest rate right? I cannot find any banks in the uk that offer more than 2%, so I don't quite understand? Also most suggest that the rate is fixed for 2 years, meaning after that period of time it could change for the worse? What would you do if they nurfed your interest rate down lower at that time? Thank you!
@James-er4si

He's not using a bank account, it's investing £300 a month into something that will produce 10% interest, in this case the S&P 500. It's not guaranteed but on average the s&p 500 returns 10% per year based on the past 90 ish years.

You can use a platform like vanguard or many others which are user friendly and invest in the stock market and get that average IRR.
Do you have to invest exactly the same amount for the whole period? What I mean is, can you invest 1k a month at the start and then 500 per month later on. Does this work? I expect to have less disposable income later down the line
Can I do this on apps such as Plum which allow investments? Can you still earn interest on them rather than a stocks and shares ISA? Thanks

Where to invest in order to use compound interest?
Is it better to pay into pension monthly or a one off yearly payment?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but your graphs takes into account an interest of 10% but how does this work with index funds? The reason I ask is because with an index fund nothing is added to the principal, it just fluctuates. Of course in a bank account this would hold true if one were ever lucky enough to get a 10% annual return, but I find it's more around 3-4% if it's a "high interest" savings account. That's probably not enough to beat inflation. However, how does it really work with funds? For some reason I can't wrap my head around that. Cheers.

I'm struggling to find the answer but does anyone know if the compound interest on freetrade is calculated monthly or yearly?
Hi Chris, what about in the case of reinvesting dividends (not taking into consideration the growth of the asset)? Wouldn't it be applicable in the same way as the dividends would compound quarterly/monthly according to how frequently they are paid out, therefore allowing you to reduce the investment period while making larger gains? I have been using the same online calculator as you and my future investment value (ETF's) has shown to be astronomical! I just need someone to assist me in verifying my calculations... 😁

Hiya mate, 22, great to have someone in the UK to listen to. I’ve got a question on making sure investment growth is reinvested. For example I’ve got an account with vanguard and positions in VUSA) Would you need to firstly sell off a position which obtained a 10% return and reinvest into a new position each time which would generate a 10% return year over year in order to benefit from the compound growth? Is this the only way the compound growth example works, or am I missing something?

Hi iDawsoN, exactly that. simply put money into an index and leave it to build. I have gone for the FTSE100 at present as the S&P500 is quite expensive right now and with the UK coming out of lockdown and things improving I feel it is much better at the moment. But for a 40 year hold like you would do at 20 you could literally go into just the S&P500 and still experience that on average 10% each year and build up a huge amount of money by your 60th birthday.
Could someone please clarify: How do you compound interest by investing in the S&P? The return on investment you are getting is from the increase in the value of the stocks which you will only see once you sell the stocks, rather than a yearly return which you reinvest.

Hi, I will do a step by step guide for this in the coming week. Basically you would just open a Freetrade stocks and shares ISA. Then deposit into the Vanguard S&P500 accumulation fund. The Acc variant means it will auto reinvest all the income each time for you. By going through Freetrade instead of Vanguard you will save a fortune in fees as your account size grows. Freetrade is just £36 a year no matter how much money you have in the account and Vanguard charges a percentage of how much you have invested so the fees would soon start building up.

I'm 19 with 30k in the stock market and 5kish in btc/eth.. I invest 700 per month in the market and 100 a month into crypto. Any advice to speed up my millionaire goal? I'm thinking of getting into real estate because I believe that's where the true money is!
Why don’t you mention the 20% capital gains tax?

Depends on your income tax bracket. Also invest in an ISA. This was for beginners basic quick explanation..
Compound interest is just a calculator. It doesn't tell you who to invest with

That 10% isn't guaranteed there is always a risk
Buying a stock is easy, but buying the right stock without a time-tested strategy is incredibly hard. Hence what are the best stocks to buy now or put on a watchlist? I’ve been trying to grow my portfolio of $260K for sometime now, my major challenge is not knowing the best entry and exit strategies... I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

The market is volatile at this time, hence i will suggest you get yourself a financial-advisor that can provide you with entry and exit points on the shares/ETF you focus on.

I agree , I assumed I had a hang of the market at first, I gained $50k one year and I was super elated, not until I stumbled upon a portfolio-adviser whose been guiding me since the market's been sham after the pandemic, to my utmost surprise I netted a whooping $280K during this dip, that made it clear there's more to the market that we avg joes don't know

Very nicely done, had a great start at such a young age. Wish I had gotten into investing into an ISA in my early 20's rather than 30's. Keep it going and I'll hopefully chat with you again once you hit that million mark.

Or you can simply invest all of your money at the very beginning, during a recession, and make several times this amount.

Hi Fire fly, 48 means you still have 20 years of compounding to take advantage of if you are looking to take the income at 68. A good start would be joining the investing group here: facebook.com/groups/profitbossinvesting Thanks
But where do you physically put it to get 10% interest?

Hi, well firstly you would sign up to Freetrade (we both get a free share when you do so here bit.ly/2OREn8M) Then you would follow the steps in this video I made and hey presto you're getting your compounded 10% kzread.info/dash/bejne/pnybw7mtgsvIYZs.html

I love it when they do. Just think of getting the same great companies at a better price.
Forget s&p, invest in AAPL and hold for life. Thank me later 🤙
what you're saying is highly misleading for people wanting to go into compounding their savings. What high-yielding savings account has an interest rate of 10%. You're lucky to get anything over 5% excluding the strict T&C's.

Hi, just to confirm. These returns are based on stock investing not a savings account. Thanks
