Compliation of European News Intros during 1970s
Finally, collection of news intros around the world released after 2 years of break. I would include all the world, but I don't have much time for this. But here is some small surprise. I hope I didn't forget anything!
All credits for sources go to their respective owners. All sources are shown in the end of video. This video wasn't made for monetization, just for historical and entertainment purposes. Hope you enjoy!

That stylized map of Scotland at 9:03, what with it's notoriously 'squiggly' coastline, was a lovely job. Be interesting to see what the graphic designers might have made of Norway, (in)famous for its 'lovely crinkley bits' (Slartibardfast)...

If they could do Scotland, they could probably also handle Norway.
The Portuguese and the Spanish ones are showing the aspects of newsmaking, liked 'em. French and Luxembourgish ones are trippy, kinda psychedelic...

The Belgian one at 0:40 makes me laugh. I like it, but to an English speaker, “nieuws” looks like a horrific misspelling of “news” that pops on to the screen with a gong like a jump scare, it’s brilliant

It's cuz both languages are very similar [if you go deep into that]. Flemish version of Dutch [Zuid-Nederlands] is less influenced by other languages than normal modern Dutch. However, regarding Dutch-English there was a long time ago a video of Frisian farmer talking to Englishman [same germanic family of languages] " Talking to a Frisian farmer in Friesland with Old English" you will be amazed how much you can understand, although the pronunciation and spelling is different. :)

We definitely need to bring back the playfulness and showiness that especially the Quantel Paintbox allowed. Its almost too clinical now.

0:50 I always thought that the Bulgarian broadcaster's logo was a stroke of genius in its simplicity. Cyrillic letters "B" and "T" arranged to form a tekevision aerial, as well as the abbreviation for "Bâlgarska Televizija". 😊
@flexparachute

Hey, I always liked this logo of BT before but the logo could be read as BNT too (the name was changed after the political changes in the end of the 80s) which makes it even more clever. The logo was changed to the current one very recently, only in 2018. So for 59 years BNT had the same style of emblem. I have no idea why they changed the logo because the previous one was very cool. The current one is kinda generic tbh. B(N)T had another logo which was a mixture between a TV screen and the number one. This is still happening and the current BNT has 2 logos too - one for the normal broadcasting and another one for the more formal broadcast. Fun fact about BNT is that one of the buildings (the first one) where it lies was originally an Italian school which was constructed so massive that it's undergrounds were used as a bunker in WW2?

A friend worked for the BBC on its main news programme. He semi-retired and went to work for a regional ITV station and found it challenging to compile a 30 minute local news programme each evening as (a) there was little going on and (b) the budget didn’t allow it. He left in a state of depression.

It's interesting to see that the simple geometric design language is now back in trend in the late 2010s and early 2020s... but in ultra high definition and more angular kind of way
4:37 it isn't 1970 because the song used is "Magnetic Fields I" released in 1981
Great video! Also USSR news intro's and the Tele-Luxembourg,thats very rare! 3:44 Teleamazonas is real.
Nice. Really appreciated for channel who keeping their legendary tune aired until today or something little detail like Gong sound from NOS
Spains sounds like the opening theme of one of those 1970s Blaxploitation action flicks
You finally found a general version of DT intro? It was frequently branded as "Dziennik" in 1970's and 1980's, with "Dziennik Telewizyjny" was used as a secondary name.

I really like the compilation. There is a detail with the spanish TVE intro in 7:31, because that introduction was used between 1977 and probably 1978. Apart from that, very good video.
Italian and British are the best.
Rúv - Fréttamyndir utan úr heimi - it translates to "News images from abroad", more or less the correct translation. Rúv started broadcasting in colour in the year 1976. I don't know what month that was. This is probably a segment in the news it self, or a different news show covering news outside of Iceland.
Got to love the News at Ten music. It's so so serious it's brilliant.

thank you for compiling this! my top 3 (subjective perspective): 1st USSR (the familiarity, the warmth, the comfort. Makes me nostalgic despite being waaaayyyy before my time) 2nd Portugal (the music just carried it till the end, the camera shots where interesting and just rly vibed with me) 3rd Scotland (that funky music and animation just rly resonate with me) honorable mentions are the Yugoslav ones, but especially the one from the Croatian SR
1:26 was very 70s in design
romania is hyper rare, from the ceausescu era many the archives were destroyed during romanian revolution
Nice video 😀
Portugals Opener could also be the theme of a TV Show like Kojak or a Western Show. :) And they used the same title generator as the ZDF (2nd German TV) in Germany. ^^
Heute is fantastic. Such a great tune.
Austria’s at 0:19 intro is so calming and truly underrated. ZDF’s celebratory tune at 1:58 is a nice contrast with ARD’s funereal/epic sound at 1:47.
