    @@rubberjohnny7416 Nooo... You would not. As someone who lives in Tornado Alley, tornadoes are about the most terrifying situation you can experience. Especially if you're used to seeing the destruction they leave behind. Just imagine, there's a bit of a storm outside. Little wind, little rain, lightning. Then it suddenly stops for seemingly no reason and all outside is a sickly dark grayish yellow... and you feel the actual pressure of the atmosphere change in an instant. You look up and you see unimaginably tall clouds are moving as fast as an airplane in the distance. Then you here the exact same sound the citizens of England heard right before a German air raid. And then the real storm hits. You watch random objects blown across your yard, the sound of hail bouncing off your roof, the lightning never seems to stop, the rain's waving like curtains in the wind, then you hear the rumbling like a train and now you know all you can really do is hope it doesn't come your way if you're one of the majority of people who can't afford a storm shelter. Because if it's big enough then there's no space in any structure you can wedge yourself in that'll keep you safe from it. And if you happen to see it, it's literally watching the sky reach down and indiscriminately tear people's entire lives apart. Live about 300' away from where that's happened twice.

    @Amanda Greene It was kinda weird how only 2 people out of a whole hallway worth of people went out to look for supplies, or how Dwayne just kinda spontaneously decided to go back to the bottom floors, even after people explained that it was like a maze and after he was traumatized. It was also weird how they just kinda decide to wait things out rather than try other ways of leaving the complex, or how even though a shady group of people started bringing down people with bags over their heads, everyone decided to just stay at the complex, even though every knew something was going on.

    I know I'm totally late to the party but here's my theory: they're in hell, or some sort of limbo. The apartment stories are like layers of hell, with the uppermost story being the chillest. Whenever someone takes the old dude's deal (or messes up somehow, "sins", if you will), they get sent to a lower level and repeat - like our protagonist who, at the end of the story, decided not to go to one of the higher levels to babysit (AKA will have a much worse time when everything goes down).

    Joshuawaggoner90 + NaturesTemper = Amazing blast of awesomeness!! This story, my goodness, it had me on the edge of my seat almost the entire time! It was like a really great movie! I’m sure as a written story I’m sure it was terrific but when presented here with the amazing voice acting skill Skott possesses, each character & creature distinct & the raw, powerful display of emotion amplified and heightened appropriately throughout all the way to the climax, it reached the phenomenal!! I’ve had powerful reactions to narrations before but this story really hooked me. What an appropriate Halloween tale for terror too. I really want to know if there’s more to come for this. Whether it’s a series or stand-alone. I hope there’s more so we can learn what’s in the basement, what it wants the children for, whether any survive, considering the ending it appears that this is spreading perhaps. If trying for “always leaving them asking for more”, mission achieved! Lol. The two of you together really do produce fantastic experiences that surpass the usual story/narration combination. This really is one of the best & most visceral & I listen to a LOT. Thank you both VERY MUCH & I look forward to more.

    It's always good to hear from you. You always put so much thought and kindness in your comments. And we actually did plan this one together specifically for Halloween. I put everything else on hold at the beginning of the month to have it ready in time. I wanted to do away with all the comedy with this one and give everyone something they could enjoy on this unusual Halloween. And as always with Skott I new he'd do great. It's not even worth worrying about. I've listened to and still listen to a lot of different narrators and you'll never hear me say that any of them are better than Skott. I was just talking to him about that actually. I mentioned that Mr. Creepypasta is about as close as you can get with actual vocal talent, and Liam Vickers was REALLY close too when he was still narrating, but Skott holds the crown right now. And that lets me mess with the story a little and save some words in emotional description, because now I know he can determine what the atmosphere I'm going for is and use his voice to set a pace, tone, and volume to accentuate it. And being able to have Skott help me take advantage of that extra dimension of writing really inspires me to bring as much as I can to the story to make sure he's only working to accentuate it, and not hold it up. So I am having a lot of fun with this dynamic of being able to work so closely with the person who's going to be narrating the story. And I'm glad so many people seem to be enjoying it as well.

    Josh Waggoner Thank you I feel honored you replied to my comment. I really enjoy your writing. I agree with everything you mentioned about Skott too. I think he’s the best doing narrations too and my favorite for all the reasons you stated. Too many doing them just don’t have that special something he has. There are good ones but he is just that extra level. It’s so obvious the care he puts in and the natural talent of emotional expression that is lacking in others. Although we’d miss him on KZread, there’s nothing I wish more than that he’d be “discovered” by the right person &, if he wanted of course, to go pro; becoming the new David Attenborough as he has made mention of in the past. You’re pretty awesome yourself! I’m only familiar with your writing through KZread although I keep meaning to see if you’ve done any books. I’m subbed to you on Reddit but I don’t really use that medium. As my eyesight has declined, my voracious reading diet has suffered greatly. But if you have any books I’d certainly make the extra effort and time commitment to read them. Thank you again & I’ll be on the lookout for your future endeavors too.

    @@anniereddj I don't have any books or anything like that. This is just something I do for fun. I have had a couple of publishers come to me about it, but they either had stipulations that I change certain things to "appeal to a broader audience" or let them buy the intellectual property outright so they could change it at their own discretion. I also get a lot of people wanting it to be made into a TV series or something like that, but I don't have the connections to get it to the right people or the money to make a pilot for something like that. So my deal with the people wanting that kind of adaptation is that if they can share it around and build the following to where a production company feels like it's a viable money making opportunity to adapt it, then I'll drop what I'm doing and make sure it gets done right. But I'm not in a position where I can even do the work to try and find a publisher right now. And it's never really been a big priority for me to begin with.

  • @anniereddj

    @anniereddj

    3 жыл бұрын

    Josh Waggoner Josh Waggoner I’ve heard it’s like that. Maintaining control of your own intellectual property is VERY important. The wonderful universe you created should be yours alone to make decisions about. I’m sure it happens more than is known of but Stephen King and the movies from his books come to mind immediately & I cringe lol. On one hand it’s too bad but on the other, with the way you’re doing it, the reader/listener gets to “see” it, feel it, imagine it which is rather wonderful. Plus, like you said, you’re enjoying it the way you’re doing it because it’s your passion and not a job to grind out. You do it for pleasure and that’s reason enough to keep it the way it is. Of course with all the skullduggery of Hollywood lately, independent enterprise will undoubtedly spring forth in droves as has already begun where the writer has all the say. In fact Unauthorized.tv, begun I believe by Vox Day, has already branched out into film making with a production driven by Chuck Dixon (I think) enabling him to transport a comic novel of his onto film. And I’m sure with the way KZread is behaving there’ll be many more if you to ever change your mind. Regardless, I remain a devoted fan, follower, & listener! 😊 Thank you for being awesome & creating awesome stories. (And for your working with Skott who’s amazing as well!)
