The internet in my Walmart sucks too. Also, I have a feeling it isn't kids opening the boxes, it's entitled adults. The same adults that think they deserve a five-finger discount just because they have to use self-checkout.🤣Anyway, I'm glad you got your set finished and it was good to see a mutually respectful resolution to previous events.🏆

I am going to guess that Wal-Mart / Target would not allow LEGO to do a very limited chase figure like Mr. Gold anymore. To much lost or damaged inventory that the store would have to eat. I like the code in the box idea, but I think you are right, that gets into a contest, because you could get something more then what you paid for.

One of the things that frustrates me in this day and age is how easy it is to misunderstand the tone and intent of the written word. I sometimes write comments that are much longer than I want to write just so the intent of what I’m writing isn’t misinterpreted.

finally got some… You've mentioned that big code in a previous video: Today I just grabbed random 5 and had two with "213S4" on. Those where in fact identical: Two space babies :)

You could do like Mattel with the hot wheels where you have to purchase a whole set. Mail in the receipt along with the bottom of the boxes including the QR code and UPC for a mail in special minifigure. Limit one per household address.

I think LEGO saw the backlash to boxed CMFs and just put scannable QR codes on their as an olive branch to the customer. A throwback to the original bump codes

Hey Mayo - these aren’t QR codes. They are Data Matrix Codes and are used across industry to ensure items are packaged correctly and to track their items through distribution. QR Codes hold a lot more data and have greater application. Do I believe LEGO have added them to appease consumers? No! They work in conjunction with the printed barcodes but are read quicker and hold different data from that in a barcode. It’s just another way for LEGO to track their products and to ensure items are packed accurately.

@@RobinHullBuilds well in that case it’s an unintentional olive branch and a consequence of LEGOs industrial handling

@@MayoHoskoexactly! One would imagine the code tells the packaging line what elements go into this box marked with this code. And, as it progresses down the line, the correct elements are added. Then as the completed boxes are gathered another scanner selects the boxes and deposits three versions into each box of 36. What BrickSearch and FalconBricks have put together is a fairly easy solution. They scan the code, open the box to verify the contents then match up the official image to that code. Very smart! LEGO wouldn’t have intentionally given consumers a way of identifying the contents of a blind box as it defeats the object of making money from duplicates, triplicates etc., by using these data codes they’re inadvertently given us an opportunity not to fall down the rabbit hole, whilst at the same time making it easier for scalpers, or those building an army, to quickly identify a box contents!

@@RobinHullBuilds maybe LEGO took a loss from the collectors to reduce their handling costs and bank on people not downloading the app or the stereotypical toys r us grandmas not knowing the technique exists in the first place

I'd say your delay with the app is the store messing with cell service, since I've only known it to pretty quickly show the fig after scanning the box. Now, getting it to scan...that's another story haha. As for the distribution in the boxes: I found a full, untouched 36-count box at Walmart, and the first 4 (two on either side) on the top were the Android Nurse. It then alternated left and right between the same 2 for about 4, then changed to another 2. This seemed to be one half of the figs, and the same pattern repeated with the bottom 18, only with the other half. I also don't believe I saw a whole set in that box after scanning them all, but I might just not be remembering seeing them all. I certainly seems LEGO have changed how they pack things for this run.

I never liked feeling the collectible minifig bags easier, mostly because I'm bad at it. I don't collect full series, but occasionally I want 1 or 2 from a set, but I've given up on that since the boxes came out.

I wonder, if all the minifigures are placed in the same place in all the outer boxes has anyone published a guide to where they are in the box. I have the Brick Search app but it would be easier to know whereabouts in the box you should be looking then you can use the app to confirm just in case the small boxes have gotten mixed up. As for your idea about a competition in the minifigure boxes should Lego want to do a limited edition minifigure I believe we also have a law in the UK where there has to be a way to enter without purchase. I know sometimes we have had competitions with chocolate bars possibly having a winning code printed on the inside of the wrapper and there is an address that you could write to for them to supposedly “open” one for you.

we already see this problem with "you have to be fast": People can now very quickly raid the whole series to grab all the valuable figures.

I blame LEGO for the May 4th debacle. They could just say limited to 4 or 5 per household and let people buy, buy, and buy some more. I think many do that anyway so IMO, LEGO is a jerk about so many things yet at least they do send more than one GWP per household. Wonder what the next LEGO drama will rear its head... Is there a LEGO bad idea versus great idea execution tier list?

I don't think its you. The app is very slow. I have had terrible delays at different stores when using it and sometimes it works rather well. But also I have had very poor internet reception in those locations.
